The death of U grading?

I'm no fan of U grades but opening all them is a serious waste of money and a lot of sealed figures now opened for nothing

he'd have been better off selling them cheaply to U Grade collectors and saving a few more figs from a similar fate

He has been selling at only cost prices (or cheap sale prices) his doubles in the last few months, so people have been finishing their sets cheaper through him.

This I believe was his personal set which (if you believe him or not) were sent in on many water damaged/cut cards that he acquired through almost the same source.

I actually think destroying the cases and the grade proves a point to just how worthless the whole thing is - open or sealed in acrylic.

Not trying to say he should be president or anything for such a good deed, but equally I still think as one of the big players he has done a good thing by just turning around and saying this is bullshit and a waste of money - lets smash them all.

What's done is done after all - I know I prefer seeing them loose than in the silly boxes.

Annoyingly, AFA are probably laughing all the way to the bank - its not like they lose once the grading fee's are paid

Good to see one of the U-grade obsessives finally saw the light but I can't help thinking it's too late. Can't remember who wrote it, but this quote pretty much sums up my thoughts on the matter.

"I believe that what you have done over the years, was destroyed 1000s of mocs for what, to only open them only because you can display more in display cases? Now that is truly sad."

Whats done is done - yes this guy has lost lots of money, but that is his lookout, whether he breaks open the boxes or not the MOCs are not coming back. What this does is it sends a strong message that AFA U grades and maybe AFA grades in general are emperors new clothes and this might help in stemming the influx of collectors to U grades if they see that major players are dumping it.

As for the comments that opening these means that the MOCs were opened in vain - Well I think they were opened in vain anyway for a pointless exercise - the damage was already done.

but now the next U-grade collector has to start from scratch, rather than buying this guys stuff - two sets of cards opened in vain

but each to their own

I think Lee's post clears that up Andy.
The sooner people realise it is a deadend way to collect the better.
There is a change starting to happen in peoples attitudes..especially coming from people who were once all for U grading. About bloody time if you ask me!

i think all afa graded stuff is a waste of money, although they do seem to have crashed in price now on ebay, unless something is really valuable just buy it normally and save a small fortune.
