That there Champions league final

The ball sticks to his feet (Nasri) he never gets tackled and although he lost a lot of creativity during the season he is still along with Fabregas and Van persie Arsenals only real world class attacking player,Wilshere will be but he is not that at their level yet.

I'm amazed how different fans see things so differently,I'm a Portsmouth fan but sadly have to endure Arsenal all the time cos of the missus, going up there is a mixed bag, cracking stadium, boring fans (sorry mate!) but I do admire certain players there and Nasri is well up there for me.

On a different note who do Arsenal need to sign to improve on last seasons anti climax?

Weasel - What do you think of the Henderson signing?

No doubting he's a fantastic player but like a lot of the Arsenal team he lacks drive
Only Van Persie bleeds red and white and he's crocked for half the season.

What they need is a clinical finisher other than Van Persie, and a bit of beef in the midfield or defence - and a lot of belief and detemrination, but its the last things that are hardest to find. Tony Adams in his prime would sort them out :)

Now I'm backing Spoons up!

Bar RVP and Fab's at a push there are no really world class players at Arsenal. A lot of good/very good player but no world class ones. Would Fab's make the Barca starting 11!? I doubt it! If he can't get a game for Spain ahead of Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets (and Alonso), what chance has he at Barca with Messi, Villa and Pedro ahead of him and Macherano also looking a spot in midfield.
To agree with Spoons again, Arsenal need a commanding centre back, a ball winning midfielder and a striker to back up RVP when he gets injured (as he does too much). Possibly also a keeper to back up that Pole with the unpronounceable name! But then "we" ie everyone apart from Wenger, have been saying that for 3 years now!

As for Henderson, it makes no sense to me AT ALL. I genuinely don't see the point in buying him. Good player, don't get me wrong, and a promising youngster at that. BUT, he's a central midfielder and we already have Gerrard, Lucas, Meireles, Spearing and Aquilani (who I rate, despite the fact he's never been given a chance). So where does Henderson fit in there!?
He can play on the right, apparently, but then so can Kuyt and Maxi! So it doesn't make sense from that persepctive either!

Then there's the price, £20 million!? Makes him twice as good as Alonso was when we signed him!? I'd say £7 million would be a fair price for a player who has 18 months of PL experience behind him and comes with no real proven goal/assists threat. But then he English, so that price gets tripled

Arsenal could of used signing that Jones then,he'l be a big big player for sure.

What about Bendtner, you watch that ****er leave and then find the onion bag regularly...

Weasel - It is a insanely over inflated price for him and I cannot believe Kenny went for that, the players being linked with you baffle me as well to be honest, are the rumours of Defoe going there true?

Bendtner is a great player, he scored loads last season and really kept Arsenal in it. It's just a shame that Wenger plays him as a winger

Good luck to him, but he never really fitted into the Arsenal system

First I've heard about Defoe mate!

Jones is a great player. From what I've heard United had planned to sign him next year but as Pool and Arsenal were sniffing round they had to act now. I wouldn't be too surprised if he wasn't loaned out for a season this year. It'll do him more good than a few mins/games here and there at OT.

Not sure Ashley Young is a good signing for United. Good player, BUT hardly the kinda player who will make Barca, Real, Bayern etc start shitting themselves. He's the kinda guy who will win them loads of PL games but against the big boys of Europe I think he'll come up short. Kinda surprised United are buying players of his ilk as they have a proven track record of being able to grind out results in the PL so another boy to help on the domestic front isn't really needed. Kinda non-sensical like 'Pool and buying Henderson. Other areas of the team require more urgent attention.

As for Bendtner, decent enough player. I think at a mid-table/Europa League PL side he could score 15+ a season and look pretty decent. Just not sure he's quite the calibre of player to make it at the very top. Can't like the fella though, after his comments about thinking he's one of the best players in the world. FFS he's the third best striker, in the fourth best side, in the second best league, in Europe! Wanker! Lol

Being a Villa fan I feel I can (try to) comment on Mr Young. Must have seen him about 15 times this season and a fair few previous seasons. He was ****ing adored at Villa Park until the latter half of the season just gone mainly because everyone knew he was going.

I just loved it when in August he had two years left on his contract and he refused to enter negotiations as he just wanted to concentrate on playing football  I knew then he was going and he was signalling that this was his last season at Villa as there would be no way of him leaving on a free at the end of next season.

A good player but a completely selfish one. He used to run to the crowd and celebrate with everyone when he scored- now what does he do?? He turns his back to the crowd and drags his hand across his name on the back of the shirt.

He's also one of the biggest divers i've ever seen. He should have advertising on the bottom of his boots with the amount of diving he does.

So all he needs is a greasy slicked back hair style and United have re-signed Ronaldo?

i think the reason some f the english players are going for mega bucks is because there is a ruling coming in pretty soon where you must have 5 or 6 ? homegrown players in your team, not sure if this will apply in europe first and then the domestic league but its coming and the big clubs know it, pretty sure sturridge will stay at chelsea because of this ( would love to see the toon sign him ),

henderson £20 mil.....?????????

Alex McLeash to Villa!? WTF!?

Have they seen Brum play? Dull, 4-5-1 football! Relegated twice in the last 3 years! Lowest goal scorers in the league two years running. Players player of the year - their keeeper, 2 years running! And, all this for a club with the third highest net spend in the league (behind Chelsea and Man City, unsurprisingly).
FFS Ron Manager would be a better appointment!

If he gets the Villa job, I'm gonna put a tenner on them finishing in the bottom four or him not lasting the season.

I would be devastated if he got the Villa job! Absolutely devastated :(

I have a mate who is convinced that McLeish will go to Everton and that Moyes will come to Villa. I would be very happy with that scenario!

Another Villa fan here, I cant see the ginger blue nose getting the job, at least I hope not, the backlash would be huge.
I didn't renew my season ticket last year and am very glad of it, Houllier was bad enough but some of the second rate managers we are being linked with at the moment is enough to depress even the most die-hard of us.
When Randy Lerner took over from deadly Doug we all thought things can only get better but it looks like we were wrong, we are rapidly becoming the laughing stock of the premier league.
What we need is a manager who is passionate and wants to build the club into the force it should be, not someone who would see it as a stepping stone to better things......

Moyes would be a fantastic appointment for Villa, BUT it looks like Randy doesn't want to spend any money and is looking for a manager who can manage on a budget. Hence the approach for Martinez, who I actually like as a manager, and hence why they walked away from Rafa when he said "Yeah, gimme £30 million to spend on players" (ok, Rafa has a mixed record in the transfer market, but I think he may have had a point, that Villa team needs invested in, not asset stripped).
Why would Moyes moved from one club with no money to another club with slightly more money. He's gonna have FA budget either way and would be swapping a team who are a long shot for European footy for one who are fast becoming the definition of mid-table obscurity!?

That's not me making a sly dig at Villa, I actually quite like Villa. I just think they missed a trick 3 years ago by not investing after the successive 6th place finishes and now the continued low spending is preventing them from catching the teams ahead of them. Granted, they don't have a rich owner who is throwing cash at the manager (they have scrouge), and that in the long term will save the club from doing a Leeds/Pompey, but it has got to frustrate the life outta the fans!

Returning to my initial point though, I genuinely can not see ONE SINGLE REASON why Villa (or anyone in the EPL) would approach McLeash. The fact he was Brum manager should make it even less likely thet Villa would be after him.

Why appoint someone who has failed so blatantly, twice in three years, and brought some of the worst football the PL has seen (FFS Bolton/Stoke at their worst are still better to watch) and will almost guarantee low scoring dross. Especially when he has done it at your nearest and bitterest rivals!?

Exactly Wease, exactly!!!

It's been reported that he didn't appoint McLaren because of the fans animosity towards him yet he's planning on interviewing McLeish tomorrow???! It makes no sense whatsoever!

I've spoken to a couple of other Villa fans tonight and they are adamant - if McLeish is appointed then they will not spend another penny on the Villa until Lerner and McLeish are gone.

If he gets the job then it just proves what a lack of ambition the current owner has. I still cannot understand how he cannot see the strenght of feeling from the fans about not wanting him there, the club statement goes on about him not being ignored if he is the best candidate - look at his track record in England you ****ing dipshits......
This whole debacle is really starting to piss me off and if this tool gets employed I will NEVER go to a game whilst he is in charge, Chasetown FC ( my local non-league team ) will get my hard earned cash instead and I can walk home from there :D

It's looking more and more likely now boys!
I'd say almost a done deal. :?

That's gotta rank up there as one of the stupidest ideas EVER by a club Chairman.

Perhaps Lerner wants a manager who can deliver the League cup

Shocking appointment if it does happen, feel sorry for the Villa faithful..

Brum's replacement could be our very own Steve cotteril, better option for Villa right there if no money to spend?!

Weasel - Defoe was all over fansfc the other day with regards to joining Liverpool,Chelsea or Utd...made me spill my coffee when I read it,if I was a LFC fan i'd be hoping it was true in fairness because him,Suarez and Carroll would be a decent attacking threat.

Villa are one of the 7 clubs never to have been relegated from the Premier League. McLeish will soon change that imo. Such a negative manager.

I agree with you Pete.

Browny, not sure abotu Defoe, good player, but we need a left sided centre back/left back and two out and out wingers. Although ATM it sounds like we are trying to field a team of central midfielders!
