Temporary Hold placed on funds in my paypal account

Anyone ever have this happen to them. Can't figure out the reason and this is all it says in paypal

Someone else had this prob recently, possibly Ed but cant be sure. Is it not accepting payments either??

Not sure as I haven't had a payment sent in today - tis weird as the only funds in there were a payment for a single figure from a chap on RS and a partial refund from a guy on Ebay

Will be buggered if this is a long term thing - have emailed them but might have to give them a bell as well

It may be because you are are only allowed a certain limit of cash into a Paypal account, if you go over that amount then they review your case and freeze the account

I called them in the end. Becuase the transaction that was partially refunded hasn't cleared yet then they have to hold funds until it does. Kind of makes sense but annoying none the less.

PayPal fries my head. It keeps changing the available method of payment from bank transfer, card payment or echeque with reason. I never know if I have to pay fees or if I have to wait for some vague length of time as a result. PayPal say its because certain transactions are femmes higher risk than others by 'the system' but they can tell why. Prob just another money making scheme to sift off interest! :evil:

I've had this also before, Iain! I was told it is if someone paypaled you with having the money pulled from a regular bank account instead of having money on the paypal account or having a credit card connected.
Sometimes the goliath national bank or any other bank does not 'response' fast enough or is not reachable / accessable for paypal system.
In most of the cases, the money transfer is processed within a day or two. You still have problems?

Thats it in a nutshell Holger - apparently it is to make sure that paypal do not send you money that they haven't officially recieved.

All was fine within 24 hours - I just worry sometimes as you hear nasty stories about them keeping money for ages etc

Just go onto 'contact us' and select the telephone option - it gives you a pin number that you can use when you call
