It may have come up before, but is there any reason why the scale of some starwars vehicles or figs are not right?

Yeah i was one of those kids who built airfix, who got annoyed when some one had tiny tanks and soldiers that were taller than them.

I can understand why the At-At was impossible to do to scale , as you would have needed a horsebox to get it back from the toy store, and the imperial destroyer, well even worse,,

but then the snowspeeder seems way too big, along with the c.city pod car?

x-wing is too small and the tie fighters wings are off, and vaders tie wasnt re-designed until POTF 2.

was it that they were making the toys before,or during the making of the movies and were going off drawings and plans, concepts etc, or were they just not arsed?

Anybody know why or can direct me to a bit of back story,,, i am off to stomp my At-Ats way too small foot on my oversized snow speeder

That's always bothered me but the reason is obvious when you think about it...
The Millenium Falcon is about 4 or 5 times too small. The rebel slug thing is about 100 times too small and so on. I think they just made them so kids could fit them in their houses. lol
Are any of them actually the right size?? Even the Speeder bikes seem slightly too small.

There's a section in a Sansweet book I have about this. Firstly, obviously there's the size factor. They had to make either the whole vehicle or parts of it (eg wings) smaller to be a feasible size for a toy. Then there's durability - If the X Wing was to scale, the wings would have been much bigger and thinner. They'd have broken the first time you dropped it. And finally there's cost, it would have cost too much to either make such large scale vehicles, or to precisely engineer smaller parts. That's why most of the vehicles look kind of like charicatures!

Yeah that's my point , I know you couldnt do a proper rebel transporter to scale it would be the size of a car.
But what did annoy me was they didn't even bother on the ones they could they could have made a smaller snowspeeder and bigged up the x-wing or at-at,,,,,, and don't me started on the falcon

Oh and jabba is too small too the rancor is about right

Yeah the Falcon would have been awesome if it was bigger. It's WAAY too small! It didn't bother me so much when i was a kid but it does now.
Jabba's not too bad i find. He's roughly the right size. His hight lying down is about the same as a normal fig standing up which is about right if ever so slightly on the small side.. I think the ATST is pretty close as well.

yeah i suppose i can let jabba go, but the AT-ST also was not right when i was a kid ,, hey arent there two seats in this thing.?? but i was glad to have what i had,, but i couldnt understand at the time.

it was probably all very casual as they were making toys that were to be mass produced and didnt need to be too accurate as they were sure they would sell.
it was probably like why they chose to make certain fringe figures and not others,,as they were probably saying "kids will be happy to have any of these figures who cares which ones"
