Thankfully not many deals on here go sour, but as with any forum occasionally there is an issue, and although there is only so much we can do I am always open to ideas to reduce the risk for you guys buying on here.

I don't want to make it too difficult to sell here as that could mean genuine new sellers are blocked, but if any of you have ideas to make it safer, please put your suggestions here.

I have already requested that paypal gift/personal payments are not made to people you don't know, that is one safe guard. Another option is limiting sales threads to people with over a certain amount of posts, eg 50 - opinions?

Another idea I had was for all new sellers to be required to give a mod their name/address/phone number that can be cross-checked on 192.com. It will require help from you guys to enforce, but at least then if anybody did get ripped off, we would know where to send the boys round! Thoughts?

Any other good ideas?

sellers with no reputation should give out their full details to the purchaser and a landline number (its best to make the call to verify)

No gift payments, if they wont provide name, address and a contactable landline number then dont deal with them?

Just to point out there are some sellers on here with less than 50 posts whom are trustworthy. Darren from starzonetoys springs to mind.

Yeah I'm not too keen on that idea personally, as you say it will cut out some people that are genuine. Perhaps I could create a 'Trader' status for people that are known, trust-worthy sellers despite of post count?

Yeah if at all this needs to be for members that no one has dealt with before, rather than post-count.
Obviously people need to STOP SENDING MONEY BY ****ING GIFT! That would put a complete and permanent stop to it all.

I like the idea of a trader status. It could be optional for people who trade more than post, or maybe a trusted seller icon.

Great thread, I will try to think about some suggestions.

About the boys, are we using the 501st to send round or do we need a SWFUK gang

i like the idea of a trusted seller icon.

its always possible to ask a newbie seller to send the item first if they are willing to.

Can the trusted seller icon be a picture of Han Duo with his thumbs up?

What is the story about this Han Duo ?

AJ did try to explain to you in the showcase thread you bumped - http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1861&p=232942#p232942

If you read the thread he linked and click on the hacking the forum link you will get a good idea of why everyone hates him.

Damn I did not see that link  thanks again :D

OK cool, trusted seller rank seems like a popular idea for a start. Anybody fancy putting a list together!?

I think some of us not jumping on items just because we want them without thinking would be a great idea. If they are new and do not post regurlarly or have only been a member for two weeks and all they want to do is a sell items (without any established history or background).....we need to be a little restrained. You guys act like some chick yelled free ***** in the dark and you just all jump on it without even giving it a once over in the daylight.

Then again...iF you need an icon to help...that's cool too..........................

Post counts make no sense to me. Someone (like myself) can easily rack up 5o (or in my case thousands  ) of non sence posts and be on their way to ripping people off.

I say just use common sense with these new people and their loft finds and valuations so the can sell on Ebay or rip us off. Credibility is key to selling on a forum and building it takes time.

New sellers or posters shouldn't be allowed to literally just join up and then start selling. That's what Craig's list and EBay is for. Just a suggestion. 8)
