Stormtrooper question

Other than the body is "hard" , possibly not hollow. What is a hard bodied stormtrooper ?
Some thing to do with welding, molding. ??

looked around on the tinternet but mostly for sale, went crossed eyed over on RS ,(too much blue)

They're all hollow. The hard bodied versions have more detail to the sculpt:

Cool pics James. I always wondered what that meant. "Hard torso" :?
I have both but never really examined them.
