I was thinking about buying a stormie outfit, is there good and bad ones in quality ?

I saw some on ebay, some are cheap others are expensive :?

Any one who knows something about them ?

I have no knowledge or advice but do know that this site is the guy that made them for SW and uses the original helmet moulds. I guess this is top end but I think a good guy to ask would be Carl Waterworth, I believe he is a member of the 501st from what I've read on here.

Thanks I will try to look at it :D

Andrew Ainsworth worked on the original, but these are not the same molds. Go RS props for one thats cast from a screen used suit.

Depends on what you want the armour for Lars, if it's for a Trooping then it needs to be of a higher quality ( thickness and ridge ty of the materials it's made of) for it to last and suffer wear and tear.

Also if trooping, you will need to discuss with the troop you are joining, as there are specific requirements you have to adhere to to be " passed" and a member.
Also there are several types of helmets, such as the " Hero" helmet "stunt" etc. and how near to the screen portrayed armour you want to get for authenticity.
Also if your going to wear the armour, due to the different pieces of kit involved, it's not " one size fits all" and as I understand it a lot of the guys buy custom pieces to fit.

If your going to display and not wear the armour, I.e. On a mannequin then the quality does not need to be as high and the thinner ABS plastic type suits are ok.

Then there is the blaster, there are loads of differnt ones of differing prices, from a cheap one you can customise your self with a kit ( which you can find on ebay) or other E11 Blasters which can cost quite a bit.

There are as said a few guys on here that could give you advice, such as Burnsey and Carl.

There are loads of reference sites and advisory sites...the RPF is a good site

Also take a look at this link

http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/

I personally don't have ST armour, but would love in the future to have one to put on a manequin for display as they look very cool, I would be putting it on a mannequin because I'm a little short for a stormtrooper

Best of luck with your search Lars :D

Hi!

Im a member of the 501st in Norway, belonging to the same garrison as Denmark. http://nordicgarrison.net

Currently Im trooping in a Scout Costume as I retired my TK (Stormtrooper). Send me a PM and Ill give you some more info :)

Generally I would stay well away from the stuff on eBay and in particular the Rubies ones that are frequently sold. They require an insane amount of work to get approved due to their inaccuracy. Also, its just as much how the armour fits on you that counts for approval, so expect some customization if you are going for 501st approval.

I agree with Michael Sith that it depends on if you want it on a mannequin or if you are going for 501st.

All being said, the Nordic Garrison is great, and there is lots of trooping in Scandinavia :)
