I'm not really into bootlegs but this afternoon I popped into our local town and clapped eyes on a strange non-articulated stormtrooper (usual vintage figure size) with a grey top to his helmet. It was handpainted :?

Unfortunately I couldn't get a photo of it but I just wondered if anyone might know which country might have produced it?

Also, is anyone into bend-ems?

I think the grey top trooper is something to do with Disney - I think

Bendems?? Only a complete lunatic would collect those.... like David Tree
:D

Disney eh? I'd hoped it would be some rare Uzay or something like that, but I know nowt about bootlegs.

I found a whole box of bend-ems (it was at an auctioneers), wierd looking things

Yep that's a Disney Stormtrooper alright, they also done slightly weird looking Chewie and Vader aswell as repaints of the Spanish Comic R2 & 3PO and Wicket.

Picking up a set shouldn't be too hard, you do see them here and there and are a nicer reminder to darker times as they were pretty much the only Star Wars toy product in active prodcution in late eighties/ early nineties.

The Spanish Comic figures are much harder to find, here's a pic of mine:

Our local auction house had a box full of the things at the weekend. Although I'd heard of them I'd never seen them before as anything SW made after 1984 passed me by. Something a little different for sure 8)

The Disney ones were slightly different, Wicket could be found with white eyes, rather than the blood shots ones there and 3PO is totally repainted in dull gold and brown variations.

I'd post a picture of those, but have no idea where they are at the mo.

All vintage collectors should have an appreciation of the irony of them, as some vintage figures were used as the base for them, in particular the Greedo, Boushh & Salacious Crumb figures. Also you have small and large head Han Solo's and don't forget the DV carry case, a Kenner product reissued under JusToys.

Hell they even made a Royal Guard that was better than the POTF II effort.

you'r know all about being soft - guess its a bendy thing :D

Royal Guards hold hands in the lift.

Ok considering you gave me a hug at the last memo... I'm guessing you were holding their hands in the lift while preaching bendyness to them.

Hey -the POTF" effort at least had a weapon"
If any, the Bendem RG is better than that half -assed attempt hasbro made for ROTS

You two are very defensive about Royal Guards and Bend-ems  We'll log that for future reference

we defend them cause we are the only ones that like them. David secretly has a RG uniform in the house that he wears.
Don't lie David!!!

they had to include one, there was no way of distinguishing it from a salt/ pepper pot otherwise

and the Bendem with the arms straight out to the side makes it look like a corkscrew.
Both sadly have both arms showing making them (obviously) inferior to the vintage :D
