Star Wars Tazos

I worked in a pub when Tazos came in bags of Walkers. People would leave the empty/half empty bag on tables complete with Tazo. Never once had to buy a bag. Whole set for free. Even went one better. 2 of the bar staff smoked, so I would collect tokens left in empty cigarette packets for them, and they'd collect the Tazos for me. Took about a week to get the whole set :D

Score haha! no need to eat 100+ bags of crisps.

Just had a flashback of me collecting those cigarette token things which i'd completely forgotten about, they were little slips of card with a number on them, I used to always find them on the floor outside the shops around my area and I ended up with a stack of them. I was fascinated with them and didn't smoke, I was like 8 years old  .. before then I even went through a phase of collecting used bus tickets and had an empty drawer stuffed with them, I was weird  a collector by nature.

The Benson and Hedges Gratis points

My mate was the manager of a weatherspoons pub at the time and spent about 6 months collecting them from embty fag packets left in the pub

he had thousands and walked them into the local littlewoods which had index catalogue and the benson and hedges gratis points catalogue, my mate thought all those points he had collected was gonna get him a tv or a vcr player, he could barely get a clock radio or zippo lighter

Haha that's funny, thousands of them as well.

I remember that now with the gratis points being able to get stuff, after you saying that it's all come back and I bloody remember now having the catalogue and looking at all the stuff I could possibly get, that must be why I was obsessed with finding and keeping them. :)

I remember for years my mum and dad collecting books of green shield stamps, we must have had atleast 10 full books worth that got put away in a cupboard and then when they were found again they had done away with the whole thing so we never got to get anything with them in the end

I suppose its a bit like nectar points nowadays, I finally got a nectar card early last year and saved points and then I said to my wife we can use what we have at the end of the year as a treat for xmas, turned out we had £20 to spend on shopping which was alright I thought

I hear you get more for Tesco points but we don't shop there

I work for Tesco and the club card points do add up quite quickly, I think we have about 60 quids worth saved up and that is just shopping every month for me and the missus we don't spend loads, but then again nectar is the same as us I believe

The waitrose loyalty scheme is awful. Discounts on 10 items you have to keep updating on their website, tea/coffee (neither of which I drink), or a free copy of the Daily Hate (lets not go there..)

I'll never understand why there was no Tazos for Episode 1.

There was everything else.

I think it was a brilliant tie-in. I'm totally up for another round of eating a multibag of Crisps for lunch.

And collecting all the packet types.

Rarest was Walker Tomato Ketchup flavour or Walkers Sour Cream.

Amazing.

As sad as this is i still have a load of empty crisp packets and some Tazo advertising material. if i get chance i will upload a picture.

I was in Barcelona in 97 when they re released the original films, I remember the Doritos packets over there came with a sachet of spicey salsa, really good!

Why they've not done that over here I don't know? Nearest we get is a packet of salt in salt n shake

I've got 3 sets of Tazo's....2 sets put into the folders and one set still in the small plastic sachets that they came in inside the crisp packets....collected them at the time they were in the shops...tbh I didn't mind the Doritos   also managed to find a fare few Tazo's just lying on the floor outside various newsagents (yeh pretty sad picking them up but fook it )

I've got a fair few empty Walkers crisp packets as well (I were a Star wars horder back then...anything with Star wars printed on it I were a moth to a UV light )

Awesome........I hear that George Lucas is going to make another trilogy. Great times.

Is this true ? how can this happen i didn't think he owned the rights to his own creation any more. Or a new trilogy non star wars related. Forgive me if i come across a bit thick i don't have much human interaction.

Sorry mate- should have made it more obvious.

That was a conversation often had while devouring those crisps, waiting for Episode 1.

I'll get some photos sorted over the weekend of the crisp packets I have as all this stuff is in my loft...even have a few of the Toys R Us Episode One printed 'Gold Cards' (plastic ones not the temporary paper ones)....i'll get photos of all my random 'modern' bits and bobs as well...

My Mum smoked like a chimney, Silk Cut, and wasn't long before we could get a Dustbuster with her tokens

WOW, Tazos suddenly look impressive when you display all the extras like that

Dustbuster!!

Can't believe the crisp packets actually looked like that back then, the style of them they look like 80's ones.

Also was there a Tazo in every single pack or were they considered as prizes like 1 in every 3 or something?, I can't remember now. I do remember though getting 3 in 1 pack before. 8)

As far as i can remember you got one in every pack but if your bought a multi-pack of 6 Doritos you got an extra three or something like that. Me and a mate would buy a few six packs of Doritos and a dip on a Friday and watch horror movies while consuming the lot.
