Star Wars Rougue One Details

So details are finally out about the first stand alone film and apparently there was a little teaser to go with it.

This sounds interesting, certainly better that a film focused on one specific character.

You never know, but I suspect you are correct, it would be nice to see at least a nod to some of the old EU, be it locations or names.

Its not a big thing for me really. The EU never really mattered that much to me and I only really enjoyed half of. At the worst some of it was bad and really didn't fit with the rest of the star wars universe. Plus it gives me the excuse to read a whole new set of books and comics.

I think the eu is great and it would fell strange to read to different stories about the same adventure :?

Real movie, filming starts this summer I think, casting news is beginning to leak online. I think this is the first of three stand alone films Disney want to reslease between main movies, all exploring different aspects of the SW universe but still hanging off the main story in some way.

At least this means that all those terrible single character films are off the table. There is no way you could make an interesting Yoda movie.

Was all the EU classed a 'canon' and endorsed by Lucasfilm?

It was the EU, in particular the Thrawn trilogy that got me back into star wars addiction in the early 90's.

There were some nice characters created...like Thrawn for example.

But not hugely upset that the EU has been forgotten, simply because I never really got into it.

I can understand that others might be.

The EU was always part of the Lucas Cannon as it were, he maintained a great deal of control over it and up until the last few years everything did thread together. I think when Dark Times and Legacy ended that is when things went wonky.

if Disney follow the marvel route then the EU and the Cinema/TV stuff may crossover but there will be no cannon.

Lucas himself said only the movies should be considered cannon.

I think this was slighly altered to include the Clone War cartoons later on.

Lucas was inconsistent, he even added an Outrider ship from Shadows of the Empire into the special edition for a New Hope.
