Star Wars Palitoy Darth Vader (MOC) 45A back ESB Value?

Hi

New to site, and here for advice. I am however a huge fan.

I have been given a Star Wars Palitoy Darth Vader (MOC) 45A back ESB. The card and plastic bubble have some slight damage indicative of being shoved in a box with other childhood toys and dumped in the attic. It was found during a car boot clear out and my friend thought it might be worth a bit more than a couple of quid, and asked me to research and see if I can sell it on. After doing some research, aside from noticing that this figure in it's original state is extremely difficult to find, I also tend to agree that it's worth a bit more than a couple of quid. Only problem I have is figuring out how many more quids it is worth. Not wanting to be ripped off I started trawling the net for fan/collector sites....and here I am.

Any thoughts?.....

I would estimate that piece at around £1500-£2000 maybe more. And it has the mispelt 'Leichester'

First 12 characters are very rare moc on these cardbacks.

I've had a couple of these one mint which I sold 4 years ago for £850 and one damaged, better bubble than yours but worse card which I sold for £500 this year.
I would agree with Lee that a mint one now might command £1500 but yours I would say £600 tops. Doesn't seem to be as rare as we thought.
And I'm not interested in buying it so I am not trying to rip you off.

Nice piece though but didn't want you to be disappointed with an unrealistic price.

Yeh I more or less agree, it is certainly prob the only Empire carded Vader with a Palitoy logo one is ever likely to find :wink:

Someone got v lucky a while ago and snapped up an example slightly better condition if I rem for £350 :!:

B4 that the last one I know of sold for around £900.

Yeah I also think the £1500+ is abit unrealistic for a moc in that condition, AFA 85 maybe, not AFA 60

I thought £400+ based on rarity and condition, andys valuation looks very solid. didn't someone get a steal recently when one got binned on eBay for £200? Poor seller made a booboo on that one lol ...

I reckon that this could hit a grand even with the condition. As far as rarity goes, its up there with the best of them. Funny thing is that i remember i bought a 45a Stormtrooper from Andy back in 2002 for £140 IIRC and that same one left me in around 2003 for around £175. Anyways, to cut a long story short it sold not long ago for well over £2000-now thats crazy...

This Vader could surprise a lot of people. SW is peaking and interest is driven high so lets wait and see

Thanks for all your help guys. Unfortunately my mate had an accident at work and is in traction at the mo. His wife has taken over the responsibility of selling it. Lets just say she saw a holiday in this and has put it on Ebay. She is also being in my opinion a greedy mare! Anyhow I will post link on for sale page. Look forward to the ebay listing. A lot of bubble damage which effects price I'm going for £400 to £500 but may surprise us all. Any buyer has to assume bubble is cracked. Unless ebay listing says otherwise.

Tia listed already only just been made aware. Good point about the bubble and having just checked listing clearly says sealed. She's a canny one my mates wife! Anyhoo posted link on selling forum and that's me done with it. When he gets out of hospital we'll get the boxes (now plural!) down and I'll be back for more help. LOL this time his wife can go play with her handbags and shoes and leave the serious stuff to us
