Mate of mine took this pic recently, he was on holiday in Mablethorpe and this was the backdrop for the dodgems, clearly based on the Chantrell UK poster painting:

Mark, thanks for sharing that is fantastic! (I especially love Luke's terrifying stare).

Hard to tell the age from a photo but wonder if it is a recent mural or indeed a vintage one (if it was actually painted back in the 70s would make it even cooler that it has survived).

I wondered that myself, judging by the amount of wear it's got it could very well be of the period. Maybe they had it stored somewhere and bought it out because of the recent resurgence? If this had been done recently, you'd perhaps expect some newer characters in the mix.

I agree, the painter has taken some dramatic licence from the Chantrell original (including adding clouds and giving more prominence to the droids, whilst cutting out Chewie altogether), but no sign of any ESB, ROTJ or prequels - so perhaps it is a vintage mural.

If it is vintage then part of me wants to have this, cleaned up, preserved and exhibited. Another part of me thinks it is exactly where it should be!

Either way thanks for sharing!

Thanks for starting the thread, mate. Tis I that took the photo and I will post some close ups when I get back from holiday. I strongly suspect it is vintage based on style and weathered condition. It is accompanied by a Live and Let Die mural and it seems odd these would be done in more recent years so I am convinced they are old. I would love to grab them if I knew what the hell to do with them afterwards :-D

That's great. It looks old style. Thanks for sharing.

Now just to get a picture of the Star Wars remote control moon buggy things from Blackpool Pleasure Beach circa 1980.

Thats brilliant, i love it. Odd ship on the right hand side but a fantastic image nevertheless.
Road Trip!
