Star Wars Collecting Focus?

For my Speeder Bike run, the only production item I´m missing is the white sticker Meccano one.

I heard that one is a right stinker to find, good luck with it though.

I have SW, ESB, ROTJ, POTF, TRI LOGOS, even afew droids and ewoks!!! :shock:

At least I dont collect loose anymore. :roll:

Hi guys, I recently completed my loose collection and picked up some nice carded figs along the way (minty POTF Amanaman!)

I'm am thinking of focussing on IG-88 or Death Squad Commander... can't quite make my mind up?

There are a couple of things i'd like to focus on now that I've sold most of my Kenner stuff, but I'm not sure I could afford another focus or find the space alongside the palitoy.

I'm interested in Revenge proofs
Micro collection
and the 12" Dolls.

Not started the first two yet, and possible never will.

Have managed to pick up 4 12" dolls so far

Spooky, I could have written that. Although I do have all the loose 12" figs (in various stages of completeness) and a coupe of micro sets

I do love collecting; the thrill of the hunt, the networking and the joy of seeing a collection grow. I need to collect something as the actual collecting is almost as enjoyable as the actual collection for me.

But where to go?

I doubt I will ever complete the Palitoy lines I'm after, so need something to aim for.

Had a complete Kenner collection from SW-Jedi, all the POTF droids and ewoks. So nothing there.

Have considered a character focus but can't get motivated for that.

Have owned several preproduction pieces which really do nothing for me.

So those three things I listed seem the logical place to go next, and do actually give me some interest.

My focus, and had been for 2 decades now :shock: is the 12" figures. About 5 years ago I decided that I would try to catalogue and collect EVERY foreign boxed 12" that made it into production. Now thats 60+ boxed dolls, I am nearly half way there now with some very rare and nices pieces. Of course there some pieces that elude me... :evil:

I have found that alot of the fun itself is in hunting the pieces etc and once some goals are reached there is an anti climax after a while. I felt this way once I had completed my debut MOC run and after my SW boxed run.

There are some things you know deep down that we will never sell. For me its the Early Bird items

I agree with you lads.

I've changed focuses recently.
I decided that a character focus is not for me.
I like the more obscure side of the hobby which led me to the Takara items.

I'm now on loose foreign variants and Bootlegs which I'm lovin.

I'm meeting new contacts in the collecting community all over the world as bootlegs cover such a wide
geographical spread and like you say, the thrill of the hunt and the purchases you make are a real buzz!

I guess im just completely unfocused lol

I like some of you cant get into the whole character focus thing however i like to see other peoples character focus's.

My main focus if you can call it that is MOC's my only remit been C8 - C8+ Condition with clear bubbles been a must. Im partial to Tri Logo's but i own and still pick up SW ESB ROTJ. Kenner Palitoy its all good i enjoy them all. I dont do POTF due to the yellow bubble issues and the droids and Ewok lines don't do anything for me. I was collecting loose for a while but i find a lot of the time the figures aren't as mint as they were described. Maybe i'll pick that back up again soon.

I also fully understand some of the views regarding the hunt. Tracking items down and negotiating deals give me the biggest buzz alongside that feeling of knowing some vintage is on its way in the post. Sometimes once you own the item its easy to throw it on the shelf or into storage and move on to the next piece so im gonna work on the display side of things over the next few months now my lodger has moved out and i finally have a collection / chill out room.

:lol: He is one of my top mates and had lived with uS for over 3 years with many good times. But.. yes its ****ing great to have my own room for SW 8)
