Star War Episode 7, 8 & 9

Episode 7 in 2015 and then a new film every other year. And from what I've heard there will be films beyond the third trilogy!

'That will be followed by episodes eight and nine and then one new movie every two or three years, the company said.'
Is it the 1st of April.
Could be good for the future of our crappy bits of plastic (as the wife calls them!).

Mickey Mouse as Darth Vader?? Goofy as Chewie???

In all seriousness I love Star Wars but this may just take the brand too far. Lucas already flooded the market over the last few years with different toys and vehicles.

Will have to wait and see. Could be good, could be bad! $4.05b though. Has made Lucas even richer!!

It can only be bad in my eyes, they will try and stretch it within an inch of its life, the cartoons are a flop the clone wars **** has never took off, they wont re-ignite star wars they will bury it in ****.

Not overly enamered at this idea, but given what Lucas has done to SW in the last 10-15 years, the monstrosities that are episodes 1-3, Jar Jar ****ing Binks, Hayden whatshisface, and the plethora of shitty modern toys, modern versions of OT toys, modern toys on/in OT-esque packing etc etc...I think Disney might be a lesser evil.
Sure they'll flog it death but was Lucas doing any different? Surely to god they couldn't write worse scripts than Episodes 1-3? Metacholorians? What!? The scene where Anakin turns, which still ranks as one of the worst written/acted/directed scenes I have EVER seen.
Plus it would only have been a matter of time before Lucas got bored of raping the OT and the three new bits of shite and started to work on episodes 7-9. The money factor alone would have eventually persuaded him to do it.

Sad to see Disney get it hold it, but the fact Hollywood ran out of ideas so long ago means that it was only a matter of time before we saw episodes 7-9 made.

I agree to that to some extend, but I think that Disney still was the worst choice of all. I was talking about the topic with my gf in our break and then the most horrible thing came out of her mouth I hadn't even imagined. She said: "Well... Dwayne Johnson as Han Solo isn't such a bad idea!"
WTF???
But this is what might come out of this deal. Yes, Episode 1-3 were crap, but Episode 1-3 with Dwayne Johnson as Obi Wan and a group of kids wandering through a mysterious jungle on Dagobah would have been worse.

For us old school SW fans the best thing that could have happened was if Lucas had made Episode 1-3 directly after 4-6 and directly after that 7-9 or stopped at that time completely. The film industry has changed too much in the meantime and from the start it was for certain that the fans were going to be disappointed by the new episodes.

That being said: I hope that Disney will surprise us and make SW 7-9 in a way that will make us happy, with great actors and a great script, but I fear the chances are not very good. :(

I just can't see Disney ****ing up episodes 7-9 even half as much as Lucas did with 1-3.

Now whether films half as bad as 1-3 are a 'good' thing or not, is a matter of personal opinion. But I'd rather see someone other than Lucas make them, assuming they are going to be made.

If they have any sense they will take it back to basics. Plot, first and foremost.

Id also like to see a revival of animatronics/ puppeteers working believable magic instead of more overcomplicated cgi induced headaches.

My concern is that Disney will be more interested in flogging the "franchise" than focussing on getting the films right. We can only hope. :?

I agree...actual props, puppets....less CGI. No 3D bullshit. A few of the old actors and good story line with tons of action and no love story.

They will take the positives and drop the negatives. I reckon it will be more like 4 and 5 and less like 1 and 2.

I will exspect more sets and models, less lame comedy.

Its going to be awesome.

I haven't bothered to read the rest of this thread so maybe this has been mentioned already... Iv heard that Lucas has donated the 4.5 Billion to charity from his recent sale. If this is true then that is a spectacular move on his part. I also believe that with Disney buying into SW that it may have a positive affect on the vintage collectibles too. I mean Disney is obviously going to try and keep the brand alive in doing so attract alot of new blood which should mean alot of new interest in where it all began. Our hobby needs new blood to survive and evolve if not it will die off alot to a certain extent... Just a thought...

Very sensible, I think interest invintage stuff will become more and more huge as time wears on. Even Episode I tat might even become worth something!

I would be astounded if Lucas gave away that much!

Interesting. Should keep the vintage hobby going which will be a good thing. And depending who they get to direct, we may even get a decent movie or two.
