Some more Sci-Fi goodness.

No JJ this time. Must have been a better offer on something else for him not to carry on directing these

Damn shame Independence Day 2 won't have Will Smith in it.

Looking forward to seeing both movies. Never thought I'd like Trek stuff but it's growing in me.

Interesting how it seems many are either strictly Star Wars or Star Trek fans. I've always liked Star Trek.

I never bought any toys, but liked the sci-fi element, especially any space battles. Big fan of The Next Generation, as the characters were very strong. The other series were a little weaker due to the characters being no where near as fun as the likes of Data and Worf.

I thought these new Star Trek films by JJ were brilliant. Particularly the first one. I have watched that many times. On Blu Ray it's just stunning.

I liked the last two Star Trek thought they did a good job of renewing the franchise, but that new one looks appalling. :?

ID 2 looks ok but I don't expect much. I mean your going to sit through two hours knowing that Earth will be saved for another day and ID 3.

But isn't that what the plot of most good vs bad films is - the good guys winning? And it's down to the writers to make it seem for a minute that they won't? This obviously has to happen as we will obviously watch films over and over we know the outcome of. The fact that we are all still tense when Luke is flying down the Death Star trench, and we punch the air every time a laser blast destroys the TIE fighter, and the Millennium Falcon bursts on screen with a star burst behind it.

You totally don't no the outcome of a lot of films, latest Bond for example, the last Batman trilogy. Who whent to watch Star Wars in 1977, knowing what was going to happen? I gues I'm mainly talking about Hollywood films that are about saving Earth and sequals to these types of films are same, same.

I love Star Trek, especially the camp cheesyness of the original series. I think what they did on a budget was fantastic, and was so forward thinking for the time.
What JJ did with the movies was fantastic, turning it in an action orientated direction and really reworking the somewhat aged and dusty characters from the original series.

Saw the trailer for ID 2 and felt it was lacking somewhat. Dunno why but dont have good feeling. Sequels are often not as good and without Will Smith, I dunno if I can see this excelling.I do hope it does though.

If you look up the trailer for the original ID4, you notice that was quite bland, and it sounds like some of the sounds and dialogue ended up being changed by the films release. Many trailers don't do a film any justice, and some trailers are 10x better than the films. I thought that about The Phantom Menace :D

teaser for trek doesnt do a great job of hyping the film. if its just a long battle drawn out on a planet after losing the enterprise then its going to bomb... however, we've seen 90 seconds. Lets hope it gets better. I say bring in the BORG.
