Does anyone remember an early toys/collectibles stall in the undercover market in Preston near the bus station?

I used to go there in the early to mid 90s. He sold Star Wars (obviously!) and I also remember Action Man.

He carried loose items and also a stock of what is now MOCs and he told me he had purchased many from the Golden Mile (which I think is the Blackpool seafront area where the illuminations are) from bargain bins in the mid 80s when they were being sold off cheap. He claimed to have a shed full of stock that he was working through selling.

I remember a guy on the outside smaller car boot market in the mid 2000's selling a few Star Wars and Action Man stuff, I had a Jedi carded Hoth Soldier off him, and an Action Man Royal Hussar in full uniform which i sold on for a good profit. Perhaps that was him?

Could be. He had a stall in the 90s, but, it was in the undercover bit with the roof. I don't remember cars being on the site. He was almost as far away from the bus station side as possible. I bought stuff from him - mostly loose as I was quite young so stretching to carded wasn't always financially possible. Although, compared to the prices now….

Why do you ask, what did you buy from him? Where in Preston are you from? I was Lostock Hall in those days.

I've never really discussed Star Wars collecting with anyone outside my immediate family (because they had no choice!). When I was younger because it would have been deemed uncool. When I was older because I simply didn't know anyone else who was involved. So this forum over the last few weeks has been my only Star Wars collecting discussion ever. As a teenager my Dad worked near Preston so in school holidays I would go to Preston as a shopping day. I stumbled across the market stall by chance and would buy from him every time I went. It would have been mostly loose figures and maybe a couple of what would now be called MOCs - noting I was a teenager spending gardening earned pocket money at the time. So I have happy memories of Preston. I saw another thread discussing a shop somewhere and this inspired me to ask the Preston question. Nostalgia…

I Was born and raised in Preston and I'm still here. I was taken to see Star Wars at the old Odeon on Church Street in 1978, and most of my SW toys and figures will have been bought at Zodiac toy shop in the St. Georges shopping arcade. I still have about half the original loose figures I had as a child, the others were lost by my own kids when I stupidly gave them my figures to play with. No weapons survived at all 😄
