I was watching this one quite closely and stuck in a bid of £52 or thereabouts as I thought I'd be happy with that price but then it went mental in the last few minutes.... with an account of 1 feedback

Absolutely right.

I've been watching all of their sales. V, V Dodgey, they claim that these are from the loft and need to go.
I checked the feedback a couple of hours earlier and they have previously traded Star Wars stuff.
Dodgey bit No2, there are star cases visible in some photos (From the loft).
Dodgey bit No3 The seller uses exactly the right words in all sales including MISB etc

The same 01 feedback guy has bid on pretty much all of the MOCs!!

Yeah I noticed that too

Think they are being a bit clever as this one just ended for a very reasonable price - did bid but wasn't getting anywhere so it could have had a bid of £150 on it like the Bossk

Not really sure how to bring up previously sold stuff but there is another bidder with a feedback score of 59 who has bid on most as well. A ROTJ Fett went for £250

They have done very very well.

I saw that fett too mate. Considering its pretty badly creased its gone for far too much. The same person won a few of his bits.
Definitely shill bidding. Even if you don't like graded, you could get an AFA 80 Fett for roughly the same, then break it out!

I don't properly understand shill bidding. Does his mate bid up high hoping someone genuine pays more. Or does his mate do the highest bid and then not pay and take a non payment hit? What's the point of the latter?
And if his mate has bid the Ackbar up and someone paid that much for it, isn't it their own fault?

As far as I understand shilling is / has been done if a seller is worried that the price his item is at isn't good enough and gets a mate / himself to bid it up hoping to increase the other bids.

It doesn't always work as I suspect in this case, as there is no way that that Ackbar is
worth over £40! He's either made a deal off eBay and couldn't finish the auction early or he's decided to keep them for another day!

Not sure why they are dodgy because they know some terms like MISB. It clearlly says in the description..
"We have decided to empty our loft and my partner has begrudgingly decided to sell off his old Star Wars Toys."

It's not like they are saying "oh just found these floating around up there, not sure what they're worth etc etc" They are the partners collection.

That Ackbar does have a pretty clear bubble. Not sure if it's £140 quid worth of clear but still.
I agree about the shill bidding though. Does look a bit weird. But the person with 59 feedback might be keen. He did get some good deals. But he woulf also got quite a big ****ing bill at the end of it all by the looks of it.

That is such bullshit. Doesn't that **** just piss you off!!!! ****ers like that are lame....or and asses that back out of an auction and retrack their bids.

It's against ebay rules. They have made bidding names anonymous so it is harder to spot shilling now. They don't take any proactive actions to detect shilling as far as I'm aware. Someone would need to complain about the bidder/auctions in questions and then they would look into it.

Here you go...

Not to sure on the facts behind this (first result in google search and as with all things online it might not be reliable) but if its true its nice to know not everyone gets away with it...

I got someone banned from ebay recently for shill bidding. Ebay are really against it but as said above, they dont proactively look for it, someone has to complain for them to investigate.
