I've sent a message (a few as this item was listed to weeks a go and then pulled), but the seller just thinks that the bidders have to make their own minds up. She's got a point (if it is a she), but I just feel there are going to be more new collectors out there who just won't know what's real and what isn't.

Sorry if this is something you're bidding on, just let me know if I've crossed the live auction line and I'll take this down.

Fake, fake ****ing fake. What utter bullshit.

I've taken it to an auctioneers who after having had 2 fakes are certain this is genuine, but I'm sure there are people out there that will doubt it's authenticity.

Basically saying I know its a fake but will try and pull the wool over peoples eyes by trying to say an auctioneer has authenticated it.

****ing bull.

Yeah it annoyed me as well and I sent them 3 different links to VC Jawa's but it doesn't seem to make any difference. The only thing I did wonder though was if the COO was correct. If it is then maybe someone's trying to upgrade their VC Jawa (with original cape)? Still, it's going to give some people hope that it's real with the way it's listed.

Will this never end!!

This listing surprised me, I contacted the same seller about another item made an offer which was accepted it was despatched promptly. Checked the figure and accessories and top notch, no problems.

Then I saw this listing I thought WTF is this the same person!!! What a fake pile of shite, and the story an even bigger pile of shite!

I can't quite work it out myself. Looking at the other items for sale they all look good so it did make me wonder about their story. It's kind of the oldest one in the books except for " loft find", but I guess you never know. Still it is a bit strange that I contacted them a couple of weeks a go about the same item and it was pulled. Either they had a change of mind about pulling it (they did change the listing a bit), or they thought I wouldn't be looking any longer.

Maybe someone else should ask them for a picture of the COO to see if it's even the correct one for a VC?

I didn't even know what a Vinyl cape was before i joined this forum 2 years ago so anyone listing this kind of thing knows exactly what they're doing. 100% of the time. No exceptions.

This is a great thread on all things Jawa!

defo avoiding the obvious to try and get extra money for a £1 figure, mabe we should all email saying its a fake, but i doubt they will listen its already well over what its worth.

All I can say after saying that it looks like a Kenobi cut down (takes one scammer to recognise another ;)) is

MAN HANDS.

Well it's just hit the 50 quid mark so maybe it is worth cutting those old Ben capes you have down, even if the arm holes ripped!

Can i just test my knowledge here? I'm looking at this and the cape appears to be darker than it should be. Is that right? Does that indicate it's a OB1 cut down?

As far as I can tell it's a Ben cut down. The arm holes don't look snug and the cape is to long. It could however be an Australian one as I know it's a similar colour to Ben's cape but It's very doubtful it is. That said though I don't know much about the OZ one and if it is then I regret mentioning this whole thing and I've probably really pissed off some people

Really? Don't see why your post would piss anyone on here off. It's seems reasonable to point out. Personally i wouldn't buy one of these on Ebay. Too risky. In fact i'm not sure i would buy one at all outside of a forum such as this one because there are so many fakes.

I would have pissed people off if it was an OZ one as they're so expensive and I know how people like to keep things quiet when they come across something on ebay that's been listed badly. I remember picking up a complete run of the Star Wars weeklies (1-50), in top condition and with the free gifts for 20 pounds as it was listed badly and I was the only bid on them.

As for buying off of ebay I think it's fine as long as you know what you're looking at. I'm lucky to have had both AFA and UKG loose examples at some point, as well as having one when I was a kid in the 70's so I know what they should look and feel like. It is really hard to tell from people's photo's sometimes though but the way I see it is that an honest seller will always send you more pictures if they've nothing to hide and also you're well covered with buying from ebay (unlike selling at times!!). There are quite a few good links about how to spot a fake out there but it is a lot of money and it's always a bit of gamble until you have it in hand. I think a graded one is the best way to go off the bay if you have that kind of spare cash (that's getting harder with the price of these things now), or like you said wait for one to come up on here. The last one I picked up from here last year was UKG 85 and cost around 350. It's still a lot of money for something so small but It's way better than the AFA 85 ones I used to have and is a keeper for me.

Well, it ended up going for 61 GBP. The seller must be happy and I hope the buyer is to?!!

You never know though, it could end up displayed on here as a Toltoys
