Selling up

As much as it pains me to do this, something's come up which has left me little option but to sell up
We've got the chance to buy another property which, in a few years, when the kids fly the nest, will give them a great start in life.
I've been trying other options but I feel this is the only way it can happen.

Regarding selling, I'm thinking about putting it all in the vectis auction at the end of October. As much as I'd like to sell it all on here, I don't think I've got it in me to sell them all off one or two at a time. Cathy has been pretty good and offered me a nice deal on fees if I sell it all through them.

As a token of thanks to everyone on this great forum, ill be doing a competition nearer the time with some palitoy catalogues and a Kellerman book to give away. I'm still gonna hang around though. The mrs knows how hard its been for me to sell up, so I'm gonna put a complete loose set together and see what happens from there.

Barring about 5 or 6 of the jedi mocs, if I ever start buying them again, I'm sure I could put a similar run together.

I guess it's that thought that's made it a bit more bearable.

That sounds awesome, wish it wasn't at the other end of the country though, I probably wouldn't be able to get there early enough with boats and trains being what they are! Spose I could go up the day before and grab a hotel for the night

Sorry to hear this, Lee- but as everyone else has mentioned, family comes first. And! You know that you can always take up collecting at any point in the future. Glad to hear you'll be sticking around, though.

Lee, I am saddened that you are leaving the hobby but it is for the right reasons. Sounds like a good plan and I'm sure your kids will one day appreciate what you did for them. I don't think I am at a stage yet where if I had to sell I would, but family always come's first.

The very best to you Lee, with the prices I saw at the last auction I reckon you'll do very nicely out of it, although it must be a real wrench to sell up such a lovely collection.

Bloody hell Lee I never thought I would hear such words from you :shock: but you are doing the right thing mate, kids always come first and when things settle down in time you will have the funds I'm sure to start collecting again, one thing I would do though mate is whatever is your favourite piece you own keep that one and took it away somewhere safe.

lee i dont you mate but i had to do a similiar thing myself a few years back , it was a shock at the time but at least i could use the money from the sale of my collection and it helped a great deal ! i hope you pull through whatever it is mate and a loose collection would be great , i am still working on mine lol
