Secret Santa 2013 - 1st Sept cut off date

Well no actually after last year's disappointment (these can be as difficult as getting Weasel laid in Thailand with a platinum credit card) I'm going to toss my hat into the ring to get it started. I partially believe that last year's failed due to it being late. We also need time to search!

All of the below are ideas and therefore negotiable and will be sorted before purchases are made:

Max spend on items is £25 (it is very important that this is stuck too as someone receiving £30+ worth of stuff from a kind individual can cause problems for others!!!)

I will take the names of those interested and will randomly pair you up. Only I will know who got who unless you declare it after Xmas yourself. I'm not going to make a video or provide evidence if you don't trust me then don't enter

Anyone abroad wanting to enter should do so. If you get paired with a 'foreigner' then pm me if its a problem. Or request for local only?

A new thread will be made where you post a list of realistic wants.

A cut off date of 1st September so the pairings can be sorted giving you enough search time

Participants must be vetted. But how? Post count, feedback thread, length of time??? Combination? Meet any one of three criteria?

Get a receipt for proof of postage just in case things go wrong.

No presents opened before Xmas!!!

Don't see why not. Count me in. Only thing is that i never know what i want for Crimbo :? What if you end up secret Santa to someone in the US, the land of expensive post? I can do the £25 but i don't want to pay that again in post. Such a tight arse :lol:

I've just sent 2 mini rigs by airmail to USA and it cost £13.50. You've got to remember that those abroad are definitely going to ship whereas the UK lot may need to ship. Also, if it's thinner then it's cheaper! Shop wisely!

I like the idea but last time I participated I put a shed load of effort in & sent a lot of nice items & also added a few extras, got them just what they wanted & then they promptly stopped posting on here shortly afterward & don't want the same again as it left rather a sour taste if I am honest

That's a shame Frank - maybe a minimum post requirement is needed to get a present from Santa?

It's difficult. Perhaps if we have a minimum post count or a join date of at least...

A possible solution to the 'abroad' issue is to perhaps request that your SS is in your own country/continent? What do you think of that? I don't mind posting anywhere but for others who'd like to join for understandable reasons may be happier with this.

With a little bit of organisation, you could find a SS for everyone in his own country or near at least. For example if 3 people from the US enter, make person A SS for person B, and person B for person C, then person C would be SS for person A again...

Same goes for aussie members for example.
