Well at least I thought it was going to be one
http://forum.rebelscum.com/t1074370-4/

On a positive note, I think I found my new sig for the forum from this thread...........

"Villains is a top notch seller. I have bought many key items from him over the years. Every experience has been perfect. Kevin has the most insane collection and really knows his stuff. You sir are a newbie to both question Tom derby and the ebay seller villains. "

Yes Tom Derby is a ****in' god........bow down motherfuckers.

ps. Could someone please post a pic of that Romba Ewok with Cheif Chirpa head-dress AFA graded, on that thread. Not that i don't respect all the geniuses at AFA... It would just be quite funny.

Tom has nothing to do with the Chief Romba. (or U grades?)

Indeed. Id bet my bottom dollar that tom had nothing to do with that romba.

What info have you got on tom Pete?

Sorry, must have got him mixed up. I thought he worked for AFA. Apologies.

Hey Pete, I believe he works on behalf of AFA. Certain items are outsourced to him for authentification. This is normally because an item is particularly scarce and most people at the afa will not have seen a n example before. You can submit items to be authenticated by Tom using the GAS option through AFA.

I would be very surprised if he has anything to do with the grading of mundane items like loose production Romba's but I might be wrong.

He did used to 'work' for AFA in one way or another, and no doubt helped them set up further money making schemes.

Exactly...not that I care.....i do not have any AFA stuff....I just always find it amusing how they put some of these guys on a pedestal and act like they could never be wrong.

"Kevin has the most insane collection and really knows his stuff." & cuts up pre production sticker sheets

I think I remember that...way to preserve the hobby...oh but wait he is one of those "Respected" ones aka "untouchable"

Your right Todd. That is a pretty horrendous thing to do for sure. Were these coin offer stickers later finding there way onto cards then too Im guessing?? That is really not on at all.

I find the whole AFA debate funny tbh, I can see both points and I have a mixture of AFA and ungraded MOCS in Acrylic cases. There are pros and cons for both AFA and non, for me the one thing that it does affect is of course the price.

Trying to pick up as many non AFA MOCS that are good quality as possible, however if I can only find it AFA then fine, as long as the cost isnt through the roof.

Each to their own, everyone is right no matter what way they go down, its their collection, their cash and if it gives someone a huge feel good factor whatever way they go then isnt that what its all about?

Just my two pence minus tax and vat.

Garry

OK, it's NO secret that I'm not a fan of AFA, ESPECIALLY the U grade. But Tom Derby does NOT have any involvement in the day to day operations of AFA. He consults AFA on ultra rare and easily faked items via his CIB brokerage and authentication services. Is Tom infallible or untouchable? IMO no one in the hobby is. BUT Tom is and has been a real friend to many in the hobby, myself included. He's helped unearth some amazing collections, and found items that would have otherwise remained buried in off the radar and inactive collections for years, and helped put them into peoples collections.Has he made some money/profit on this, sure he has, why would ANYONE consistantly do the legwork he does to find items for others,But I know for a fact that in many cases it's not anywhere near as much profit as you'd think. Point is that many that stick up for him when he's attacked do so because he is a friend both personally and as a beneficial person to the overall hobby.

I don't know the seller Villains!! in any way, or any of his other misdeeds,if any. I do know that he's abusing the AFA U grade and exposing a major inconsistency in their policies via, him submitting STAPLE sealed bootleg figs and receiving U grades on the figures. MOC bootlegs are ONLY eligible for the Q grade, because AFA claims that they can not verify that the seals are original. So, if they can NOT verify that the seal is original, how can they verify that the specific figure was put on the card at the factory and not circulated otherwise before being carded and give it a U???

As for the Sandcrawler that he's selling. I'll leave that to the proto guys to debate.

Cheers
Joe

Seeing as this thread is RS related check this out!

Beware of this seller on RS...

http://forum.rebelscum.com/t1074745/

He's dodged a guy who was interested in the DT Luke and now has duped a guy buying the 12bk Vader!! Not good form!!

Wow, that's unbelievable! Even for RS. This is why i don't deal on there any more. Seems like something like this [mainly the sneaky back door sales, selling things on hold to someone else and selling things to the highest bidder etc] every other week. This is a scam, plain and simple. No other words for it. Shameful. And from a long standing member too! People's greed knows no bounds and to be fair we saw it on here recently from that Hulk guy. Nowhere is safe! :(

That's absolutely shocking what that guy has done on RS,i hope that Kyle can get his money back!

That same seller is the guy who called out Bollux on RS about his Trilogo Y Wing for sale thread & it also turned out that he ripped off Darth Wensleydale on ebay when he bought some items from him that were described as sealed but were resealed & the contents were in poor condition!
