I posted a while ago I had purchased ROTJ boxed x wing
Box not brilliant, but has the inner insert the box and leaflets etc are the next phase

I have started to clean up the ship that was really grubby so first step was to get surface grime and spider **** off it :x

So advice please

Some before and after here

Now,

So have simply used a toothbrush and soapy water to get to this stage below
Stickers came off in one piece just :!: so not an issue
I am one left with yellowing especially on all joints
Therefore any advice :?:
Is peroxide the way :?: or any advice on alternatives, and would you advise stripping x wing down or is that a no no

Is peroxide the way :?:

It depends, a lot of people are dead against it, i.e. using it to clean up stuff then sell on. If it is just for your own collection then I think it is fine and it does work a treat. If you search on the maintenance forum (or whatever it's called) there is a good thread all about it. You might have to make some retro bright to whiten the X-Wing as it will be hard and expensive to submerge the whole ship in H2O2.

Great..thanks for the advice ill check that out

Not for sell on, wont part with it now :!:

Thanks again bud. :D

Struggling getting it

Asked at a couple of chemists ( all be it supermarket chemists). And I get the blank look

Didn't women use to use it for their hair years ago :?:

Ebay is where I get hold of it. Just put hydrogen peroxide 35% food grade in the search and youll get a few items. get a litre of it and you should have enough :)

I had a mess around with some peroxide on a stormie that had yellowed slightly, I came across the same stormie a bit back and the torso had totally yellowed on it(it was the limbs that had discolored to begin with) IMO it dose more harm than good, I would just leave it as is, is what it is

May try something not quite as drastic the first

Baking powder paste mild natural astringent like lemon juice
Il will have a mess with it first....see what comes

Cheers for the advice :D

Finished to the best I can go I think :D

I think it looks X ey anyway, what do you think guys, ok :?:

Soapy water, then soaked with lemon juice over night on gauze pads
Finished off today with tooth brush and baking powder...rinsed then dried gently with hair dryer
Not risking the peroxide route :?

I am happy with it now for display, not perfect, but I think given all the comments and my own feeling, their has to be that " owned" look to it and don't want to try and make it something it can't be...mint :D

This was the start

Next to the box :!: :?

Can't argue with that. Looks great 8)

I went the peroxide route with a 12" Stormie. He was ruined in the first place so what the hell. Came up nice and white but has started to go back yellow again after two years.

cheers guys, got to admit have had luke x wing pilot in it for a test flight, with accompanying weird noises trying to emulate the sound of an x wing

scared my dogs anyway  that were actually tie fighter pilots during the test flight :?

My wife loves that Restoration Man

So that's funny

Pomse.....could start a SW version of a car wash service
Need to have a play around with the box now
