ROTJ 30 years old today

Great that so many of you remembered your 1st ROTJ figure - and all are way cooler than Mr Madine :D
Yep I remember going to see it with my Mum but I also remember experiencing my first spoiler - at school we had the chip club where we ordered books, couple of weeks before seeing the film I got the picture annual but so did my mates "hey Yoda dies"

Well my wife and daughter are really chuffed with the nice comments and so am I - she's feeling the SWF love which means I've more chance of buying more stuff cheers guys much appreciated :D

Watched ROTJ with a couple of beers and some cake - tried to negotiate with Jabba to work out an arrangement which would be mutually beneficial and enable us to avoid any unpleasant confrontation but he was having none of it so I ate his head

I was thinking that. Some sort of top Mrs nomination is surely in order 8)

Seriously I'm going to get a MOC off the back of comments like this :D :D :D :D

Agree....empire best for me ....but then :?

I can never make my mind up

ROTJ. special for me though, watched it with my lad on VHS when it came out for rent...he was only about 3. But we sat and watched it 3 times over that weekend, and since then ( he's 29 now....jeez I'm old  ) we've had a joint SW interest and he is collecting as well

All good

So ROTJ rocks ....happy b day :D :D

Jedi was the only one I got to see in the cinema when it was originally released! Agreed Empire is the best of the trilogy but there will always be a special place in my heart for Jedi as it is still my best ever experience in the cinema 8) 8)

We are all getting old guys!! I hope to take my son to watch some of the newer films when they are released.

Ps empire all the way!

Having a morning of coffee, hot-cross buns (no match for your brilliant Jabba cake db94!) and Return of the Jedi. It's my other half's fave SW movie, she was around the same age as my daughter is now when it came out, so RotJ is a big hit in my house.

Think my 1st RotJ fig was Akbar but deffo remember caning all my pocket money on the figs, and the older ones to fill in gaps in my collection, and generally going SW gaga when RotJ was released, so was probably the peak of my SW obsession back then.

It's a cracking movie that flies by at the pace of speeder bike. Happy 30th Return of the Jedi!

It seems a lot of us have kids and I think it would be so cool if our kids were on this forum when they are older all talking to each other about vintage sw stuff, with us involved chipping in with comments like "it wasn't like that in my day", "where are my slippers", "**** I've just wet myself again"

So Ed be sure to keep the site up and running and parents keep up the good work with influencing your kids and we can all celebrate the 60th anniversary together :D

My first jedi figure was the good old rebel commando, loved that guy and i had about 5 or 6 of them.

Our local cinema had a star wars triple bill not long after jedi was released and i think we paid either 2.50 or 3 pound to watch them all back to back.

Good times

Good shout mumbo :D
It is great to see your kids get the same kick out of SW. I find it hard to keep a sensible head on when it comes to buying vintage figures but nearly impossible to say no when my daughter asks for something - proud moment when your wee girl asks for a solid top R2 for her birthday :D

Loved watching ROTJ last night, all of us sitting round the tv (daughter even put her mobile down for 2 whole hours) lapping it up. Empire is by far our favourite but ROTJ just hits a special spot probably because I was that little bit older (11) when I saw it for the 1st time and I would have been completely hyper by the time it actually came to our local cinema :D

We got the double bill up here but never got the 3 - just as well I would have had a melt down

That's the one thing I would love to experience again - the 3 originals on the big screen with my family

It was the double bill I first saw the movies 81 I think. Brill day.

Me and my son (3) sat down to watch Jedi earlier today. It was his first watch - we saw it up to the Ewoks when he requested Peppa Pig was put back on

Not bad for a 3 year old though he said he enjoyed it and got his collection of beaters out from his Darth Vader case and played with them - He's still playing with them as I type - He has IG88 in a MTV-7 at the moment, nice combo Son

Need to use Jedi mind trick and say the Gammy is Peppa pigs " grandpa" job done back on track

Just been car boot absolutely no vintage to be seen, 200 + stalls :!:

The only thing they had were the modern SW science kits, Jedi training tube thing and a wall light like a light saber, both boxed and wrapped £5 each....but didn't succumb, I would have bought cos there was nothing else.....

Can remember the days when car. Boots were full of SW.....evil bay taken over I suppose

Great comments about kids growing up and us with the pipe and slippers ( unfortunately I'm already there 8)

Needing a figure fix, having a look at the FS threads

Yoda complete
DSC complete
Vader complete
Luke farmboy saber
Chewie and bowcaster

£5 each anyone    ....make an old man happy

Ok we get 2 bites at the cherry

May 25 th release date quite right as you say was USA release, but that's the day ROTJ arrived so well celebrate both  I'm up for that, I ll watch the blu ray for the UK release celebration

Haha that's a great attempt there! Mine's not even 2 and a half yet and I've deliberately held off any Star Wars at the moment. But I'm hoping that, come 2015 when he's well over 4, and with the new films coming out, we can have a marathon....

I would love to find some laser discs with the first 3 films, that way i could watch the unmolested versions with the boys
