Saw he had been taken into hospital yesterday but didn't think too much of it, woke up to the news that he had passed :(

My Dad was quite big into boxing when I was a kid so he would let me stay up to watch boxing matches in the 90's (although I'd usually fall asleep before they started or before they ended!). He then introduced me to older boxers through a monthly magazine that came with a VHS of important/historic matches and that's how I learned all about Ali.

Fantastic talent in the ring, such confidence in himself and his ability with the intelligence, technique and confidence to back it all up.

RIP "The greatest"

I don't think we will ever see a boxer like that again. I still can't believe that Foreman fight no matter how many times I watch it. The pounding he took and then went on to win.
Marciano was never beaten but Ali would have taken him I believe. One fight I would have loved to see was him facing Jack Johnson.

Simply the greatest 8)

Rumble in the Jungle was a moment in boxing history that changed boxing.

The man was simply a legend

RIP Ali

This video is now doing the rounds on the web!
After watching that I think my nites sorted later. Dig my "When We Were Kings" dvd out and put the feet up with a few guinness beside me. That dvd always makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand!
