Terry Wogan has died following a brief and unsuccessful battle with cancer.

With him dies another precious pieces of my childhood. Terry Wogan on BBC Radio 2 in the morning was on, without fail, at my grandparents house. Every morning I and my brother would come down to breakfast to smell of bacon and eggs (used to make a mean fry up, my granddad) and the "BBC Radio Twooooooo" jingle.

And how can any memories of an 80's childhood be complete without Sir Tel and Blankety-Blank! Loved that show. Between Larry Grayson and "Shut that Door!" 80's game-shows ruled the roost.

In later years he was just a brilliant, brilliant presenter with a dry wit and wicked sense of humour. Hearing his voice was always a comfort that I guess can only come from enjoyment I had listening to him and watching him as a kid.

Rest in peace, Terry. You were a genuine legend and will have them chuckling away at the Pearly Gates.

Very sad news again, was my Saturday night staple growing up. Enjoyed anything he did right up till the end.

Certainly a very tough year so far for heroes and national treasures... sad times and thought are with the families

He was a character alright. One of those people who've been on TV or the radio throughout our lives. I can remember as a kid being really bored by the Terry Wogan show at 7pm. But as I got older I kind of enjoyed his ramblings. He had quite a soothing voice that was pleasant to listen to no matter what he was on about :)

Rest in peace Sir Terry

He actually made the Eurovision song contest something to look forward to as he mocked the 'acts' in his own hilarious understated way.
Yer top bloke along with Bowie.
What's even more sad is that there's no talent coming through taking their place.
