Retroblasting - X-Wing restoration

I know there's an old thread somewhere showing Retroblasting restoring the Falcon and the Speeder. Rather than bump it up I thought I'd start another. Here's a recent one for the X-Wing:-

Don't agree with having brand new wings on this restoration - should've at least tried to repair the originals. I've fixed many similarly knackered X-Wings in the past. But other than that, another great video.

This X-Wing was at death's door. Glad it's going back to its original owner though. Makes it all worthwhile.

Don't agree with having brand new wings on this restoration - should've at least tried to repair the originals. I've fixed many similarly knackered X-Wings in the past. But other than that, another great video.

They weren't brand new. They were 35 years old. What glue would you suggest be used to functionally fix those wings?

Liked the final part and the repro stickers looked better than I expected, perfect for the job (as in to restore a childhood toy rather than to resell).

I didn't mean 'barnd new' as in brand new - I meant brand new to the ship. I've just used common super glue on the wings and maybe a little piece of sellotape. It all depends on where the break is.

These wings were broken in four places - snapped off - completely separated from the ship and RTV siliconed back together like a filthy grilled cheese sandwich. There was no MacGuyvering them back to working order. They were toast. See Part 1 of the video to see the extent of the damage.

With those wings being mass produced on an assembly line, one set vs. another set with various fuselages doesn't strike me as affecting originality.

Couldn't really tell the extent of the damage from part 1. But if they couldnt've been rescued then you did the next best thing. Looking forward to a Imperial Troop Transport repair next!
