I thought it might be an idea (as most of us buy or at least come across loose figures, playsets, vehicles) to start a thread on before and after, as iam sure all of us know that feeling of satisfaction when you get a beat up figure covered in crayons and jam sandwich leftovers then when you clean it up it reveal's a minty figure.......(or not)

anyway, restoration projects is what iam getting at !!
(ok we know that repro stickers can come in handy sometimes  )

it might be good to get "top tips" from all the collectors on this post from jam sandwich removal all the way to diferent materials to use for cloth capes etc.......

could be good for all to share.......

i will be posting a few pictures on here soon :D

Thought I'd take a break for a week because I couldnt help but find myself arguing with that bloody american but I'm back within 24 hours!

This is more like it, a thread of interest, I wanted to know myself where you lot stood on the subject of 'touching up' figures.

I've not long completed my full original loose vintage set, and as they are predominantly for display and not an investment I did the following, which at the time I didnt know whether or not to feel bad about....

-Repainted to teeth and horns on my Gamorean guard, he now looks C10!
-Did the same with the silver details on my Sandperson.
-Touched up the black on my Stormtrooper and Snowtrooper with a fine perminant marker, as they are small areas they dont have that purple glare that sometimes can be present using pen.. they look good.
-Totally repainted the legs of my Han Hoth with a matching umbro paint, and when still not quite dry, dusted them with talc to produce a more 'matt' effect, I also repainted his hands and scarf, I really couldnt justify paying lots for a figure which I could restore to good condition myself for a fraction of the price, the result again is pretty good.
-A couple of very minor touches of black pen again on for instance Ackbars and Hammerheads eyes and X-wing Lukes 'belts'.

Anyway, thats my confession over... I dont know what moral of this story is but I have a nice collection.... another 4 weeks and I'll remove my second Hammerhead from his bleach coffin to see if he's gone green yet...

lol take him to your nearest tanning salon mate lol

ive a spare han hoth here with dark legs.... if you need one for your collection?

ive restored loads of crumpled vynil capes... i think i posted here about it but didnt have good pics....

ill gladly do before and after to show you how good they look afterwards?

they can look brand new if done correctly

Nothing wrong with restoring figures or packaging. It is what ever makes you happy with your collection. Some say any of us who do this are bastardizing the hobby, by ensuring these will someday end up in other peoples collections and they may think the are 100% legit. I personally do not care whose collection my stuff may be in 50 years from now and if my copies, restores and total knock-ups fool them and they are happy, it would make me proud.

Note the very bright Gamorean horns/teeth and Wampa claws amongst other 'touch ups', Have allready decided that when I get my Blue Snag, I'll splash out and go for a good one, no way am I tampering with one of them.....

exactly what iam talking about ...great stuff !!

ive found that some of my wifes nail varnish is great for doing some figures...for example the silver nail varnish (which she doesnt use) i nicked it and i use it for the tusks and little horns on tusken raiders heads and its flawless, in fact even the keenest eye wouldnt beable to tell.....so if anyones got a ****ed old tusken raider send it to me and i will give it a go !

i never have to touch any of my figs up  and i never would i think it would bother me ,i would rather upgrade the whole figure .when i used to buy them loose i used to scrub them with ciff .this gotr rid of a lot of marks i found .that wampa has held its whiteness well you done anything to that
