Resource suggestion - Inserts database

HI all -

Upon receiving my Imperial Shuttle box without inserts I thought about building up a database for anyone who wanted to recreate the inserts. This could be super handy and really isn't 'faking' anything, least not in my eyes.

Let me know who thinks this is worth doing and I can start collating mine.

Main points to consider would be how to document. A photograph taken from high distance above, centred would reduce any fore shortening or distortion. Major dimensions marked would enable the rest to be worked out.

Sound like a plan or fruitless brain fart?

As a purist I do think this is faking, as real inserts add a fair bit to the value of a boxed vehicle. I can understand having them for your own use as they protect the vehicle inside the box, but draw the line at selling them. Even if you sell them as repro chances are that the buyer will sell it on as real in the future and people will get duped thinking they bought the real thing.

If you need them for your own use though and don't want to go through all the trouble of making them yourself, there is a guy on ebay UK who sells fake inserts. Maybe that will solve your problem.

No intention of selling them. As I said it was merely to fill out and hold the box as it should....

Realise that such a database or collection of patterns could be misused but dont think this is a reason to NOT do it.

Search Ebay! Someone is already doing it!
So may aswell buy their ****, instead of making more of these things

As I say was only thinking about it having bought a box without inserts - surely theres no harm in recreating em for all the boxes in the world that don't have em.

thanx TFB....now I feel even dumber.

Just bought 2 more detolf cabinets and set of lights - will build up tonight and see what I can find in HK to fill them with this weekend

Off to China 2nd time in as many months. Sometimes this job sucks.
