Resealed figure discovery debate - G.Kurtz Palitoy VC Jawa.

Just to clarify; I have not communicated with Jason Joiner over this issue. I had not heard anything from J J for well over a decade until he bought an item from me on eBay shortly before Christmas. He couldn't resist sending me a message ribbing me about opening the 212 Boba Fetts.

Craig.

Would that have been before or after Dec. 5th?

Thanks, Toni. You've killed my interest in collecting. You were one dealer I thought I could trust and considered you a friend. When you said you made your money from Iron and Steel I thought you were joking.

(Toni will be at Sandown on 15th Feb so, along with hundreds of others, I'll be expecting a full refund of the £5000 or more that I've spent on rubbish. Please form an orderly queue.)

So now that a fair few original shop-bought backing cards and even MOCs have turned up, are there any that HAVE contradicted the tell-tale signs that have been put together? So far from reading it seems:

1) Only one bubble type/width should be found for each figure on any individual cardback
2) There should always be 2 gaps in the seal whether the bubble was double pronged or not
3) The bubble placement should never be dead centre over the coloured section of the card

Do any 100% original examples contradict any of the above? This seems to be the only way we'll ever know for sure.

1 and 2 are true for most figures that toni produced, but take a look at han solo 45c. I've found shop sold cardbacks with a tri logo bubble, what looks like a double stem bubble and a rectangular bubble sealed all the way round with a price sticker on it.

Also, AT-AT Driver 65d came with a tri logo bubble and a rectangular bubble.

Also, boba fett and 2-1b had HG and HN variants that used rectangular bubbles which are not toni stock.

It's a case of analysing on a per card/figure combo.

Full write up on my guide.

I now have clear evidence of wrong doing on palitoy 65d Darth Vader. This is worrying, as Darth Vader did not appear on JJs list. This just goes to show that the list isnt 100% accurate.

Have added to my guide:-

Despite not appearing on the list of unused cardbacks, there is evidence that Toni made Darth Vader cards as well. The bubble seen on shop sold examples for this card is a rectangular bubble with square corners which is long and narrow as can be seen on the genuine example above. The cardback below on the left with iron marks and a poorly attached bubble imprint that is at an angle was purchased directly from Toni. The bubble in the middle matches this imprint and is much wider than the genuine bubble. You can see tell tale signs of a poor Toni seal which has air pockets and is starting to lift in the close up of the bubble on the right.

Thanks for taking the time to respond Craig, and for sharing your experiences and insight. Good to have you posting and contributing here, and for giving us another perspective to consider in this situation.

I think the ones with iron marks pre-date the accusation against TT.

The ones with iron marks came directly from Arthur Bailey and can be found in JJ's sales as well.

This miscard is looking suspect too:-

Toni had all the bits to make that, and the bubble attachment at the top of the card looks suspect.

The darth vader card was bought from tonis ebay marksing account in 2009, so quite current.

(Toni will be at Sandown on 15th Feb so)

Huh? A joke right?
if he was going to be there he wont now :)
maybe michael is going to be there with his vintage stall so might get alot more business if 100 star wars collectors turn up looking for blood and end up looking at Michaels stall ;)

I doubt Toni will have the balls to turn up at Sandown.

We could make signs and picket if he does...

Say no to Irons.
You know, when you been Tonied.
Made to Order.

I'll get me coat...

:)

In other exciting news, I just blew the monthly bandwidth on my webs.com account, so have taken a years worth of their starter package.
This gives me the ability to add new pages to the guide. So I may start my guide for vehicles and playsets etc.

Any chance of a link to the TT Vader transaction.

PM?

It's a copy of the ebay winning auction email. There is also some correspondence from Toni offering me another boba fett card for one
of his auctions that I didn't win at the same time.

And theyre from 2005, not 2009.

Can send if you want a look.

You thought money from metal scrap, but he actually meant "I run and steal."
