Repro?

I have a friend who suspects he has some repro figures but doesn't seem fussed! He is wondering if anyone knows a seller who only deals on decent reproduction figures? I've tried to get him into buying genuine figures but he's happy with the knock off rubbish!

Anything reproduction is very much frowned on in this hobby and on this forum.

If he wants to buy repro rubbish, go to eBay... although very few figures themselves have been faked, weapons are everywhere.

I'm glad I'm in the right place.

As someone new to collecting, I have noted a lot of eBay sellers list both repro and genuine. I'm avoiding buying anything off them.

To be fair it is unlikely that he has repro figures - the only repro figures from the main production lines are the Stormtrooper (known as the poontrooper), the Rocket Firing Fett and the Yak Face (most of which are unarticulated) - there are also Blue Snags made out of repro parts often using the Red Snag body and also repro arms (and legs?) of the Ev9D9

However there is a crap load of repro accessories and weapons out there - mainly on eBay so I am sure your friend will be in his element

"Decent reproduction figures". No such thing in my book! Do you mean genuine figures recarded on fake cards and bubbles? As mentioned we don't like repro around here. Explain to your friend that buying reproduction stuff fuels the production of more reproduction stuff which ruins the hobby for other new collectors who want to buy genuine items. Not cool. If he shows up here I have no doubt he'll be shown the door :|

Are you referring to bootleg figures instead of repro? These are entirely different and a whole other arm to the hobby.
Bootleg figures were typically produced in countries that did not have a licence to issue star wars products and are commonly of a noticeable difference in quality to their kenner counterparts.
Some of these can command extremely high prices.

Hmm bootleg sounds more like what I mean. The main one I can remember him having is a darth vader. It had the double tipped lightsabre and cape and the head wasn't as well sculpted. More like a domino texture rather then the glossy plastic style? I could try and sneak a picture

**** all repros! Not worth the plastic and indeed cardboard used to make them :!: :!:
