I just wanted to ask opinions from experienced 'restorers' whether this sticker residue is worth attacking or better off leaving it. It looks like it was one of those round white UK 49p stickers. It was obviously removed a very long time ago judging by the discolouring and it is also bone dry (not sticky.) There is some minor tearing but it would still look a lot better without the left overs there.

Would goo-gone or similar help?

Lighter fluid applied with a cotton bud, would be my first attempt.

I've used cooking oil and Goo-Gone to successfully remove dried sticker residue on plastic.
Not sure I'd risk it on cardboard packaging, though.

I use Mr Sheen multi-surface polish not only to clean my carded items, but it also removes sticker residue extremely well. It works wonders matey! So far nothing has ever been damaged in the proses of using it... Go easy at first with spraying a little on some kitchen room.

Mini Rig boxes aren't the sturdiest of card. They're much more fragile than a cardback, for example. I'd tred so carefully I would be scared to touch it. :-(

What IndianaWars said... Mr Sheen is amazing at dissolving sticky stuff.

Right now girls, enough old wives tales and let's get back to our embroidery.
