I decided to treat myself and have been building five new mirrored back display cabinets over the last couple of weeks. Today I've got things looking just about right, but I'm regretting not getting a new carpet and desk :) and thought I'd look back over how the collection has grown and been displayed.

I started collecting in 1991 with a few loose figs on a shelf in my student room. Unfortunately I've got no photos from then but did find this photo of few loose ships in the background of a party photo around 1998. I had my loose figs lined up along a picture rail round the room.

My first proper display is from around 2006 when I was allowed a couple of shelves in the living room and had my loose figs in an Ikea Bertby (where they still live).

Following a move in 2011 I managed to snag a man-cave

and now with new mirrored cabinets - the collection hasn't grown that much since then but has more room to spread out

A beautiful collection beautifully displayed, and excellent work on the DIY display cabinets, which look very professional indeed.

Thank you for sharing the photos with the community.

Looks fantastic Andy - great to see! And that tie bomber gets me every time!

You've always had a great collection and display room but I think this is by far the best looking set up so far. Those cabinets are fantastic and really make everything look museum quality.

Man - I am getting old - I remember your pictures after you move - can't believe that was 2011 (5 years ago)

You have a great set up there - love the diversity and just the all round vintage goodness

Thanks guys, I am very pleased with how it's turned out but might thin out the boxes on the top of the cabinets. I think it looks a bit cluttered but don't like to have stuff in storage - I have a few more boxed items that I didn't quite find room for.

Surprised none of you spotted the Easter Egg

And Grant it was your display amongst others that inspired me

Stunning collection all round and those new display cabinets really make it all pop! Got me thinking about mirrored backs now.... :D

Thanks for the nice comments chaps - and I might just have a spare cabinet going. Got five for the price of six as one had a cracked back :)

Ain't that the truth :D

Wow  A pure joy to see everything out on display like that, simply stunning and a great cross section of items.

lovely collection to see and one of many on here I'll be looking back at for a fair while. :D

Top work Andy. Your range of toys is fantastic. Make me want to break out the Ghostbusters and Transformers stuff.
I especially like the Die Cast items you have. Would kill for those!

Awesome.

I think everyone can appreciate how much time, effort and passion has gone into creating this Aladdin's cave. I bet it's a real joy taking a break in that room after a long day...

Really appreciate the comments guys and you've summed it up perfectly. I am spending a lot more time just sitting and soaking up the collection. Its really good to have so much on display rather than being hidden behind other things.
