recent live gigs/concerts/festivals/stand up attended......

Saw Aerosmith at Wembley in 1999 and they were brilliant. Support from Lenny Kravitz too - probably say he's the best person I've ever seen live.

Aerosmith were good, it rained while they played but no-one gave a ****. Good performers who really the treat the crowd to a great show

Saw Europe play last saturday at Shepherds Bush empire.****ing great night, and Norum-wow,amazing guitarist. They still have it,although Joey's voice has gone with age-but he still sound good. They dont look as camp anymore either. The wife regrets not coming now :D

Been to see Dara o'brien, Frankie Boyle, John Bishop and Jimmy Carr in the past 2 months.

Dara and Jimmy were pretty good. Frankie Boyle was a bit of a disappointment. I like his stuff, but he just tried too hard. He writes some good stuff but it almost seems like he goes back and tries to make it as offensive as possible rather than just trying to be funny (in his own way). It felt too over done.

John Bishop was fine, but a bit bland (and predictable) for my tastes, but better than a night listening to the missus talk crap or watching shite-factor

Saw Sigur Ros at Wolverhampton on Tuesday night. One of the best gigs i've ever been to.

Just got Pink Floyd and Metallica on my wish list now :D

Silver Grin, nice one catching Sigur Ros, would have liked to have gone to that.
Oddly enough, was wondering today why there was no music thread on the forum and up it pops! Great to see so many metal fans here too. Massive Metallica fan, saw them on thier last tour and they were superb. Don't get to see many gigs anymore unfortunately, think the last one was the Manic Street Preachers at the O2 who were magnificent.

Lets see, I saw the Cockney Rejects in Boston a couple of weeks ago. And just last week my band opened up for Stars & Stripes (which is basically Slap Shot playing Oi music instead of Hardcore). And this Saturday I plan on going to see Stigma.

Awesome I saw Sigur Ros last night at Brixton! amazing setlist and one of the best times I've seen them.

Seeing Roger Waters in September doing the Wall at Wembley too...

Anytime that you get to see the Manics at a small venue is just ****ing tremendous, they were my first gig and I must have seen them at least 10 times since, the last time being amazing at Wolverhampton Civic Hall (also the first place I saw them at). The crowd were so up for it and it just made them player so much better, faster and harder, brilliant!

I've seen Metallica a couple of times now and always left a little disappointed to be honest.

A fellow Manic's fan too! Seen them a fair few times over the last 15 years. Seen them at a few smaller venues, though the best time was in Southampton Guildhall in 2005. Five tunes off the Holy Bible (including 4st 7lbs).

Saw the Manics in 2002. Was big into them back then. Generation Terrorists through This is My Truth Tell Me Yours are all great albums.

The Manics have itchy feet after a two year break from touring, so I understand, and a new album on the way too. My Mrs. that got me into them, she saw them in some tiny dive in Margate years ago. O2 was the first time I've seen them, and even with average seats, they were fantastic. I. am. an. architect! Genius.

Yeh, Metallica can be a bit flat. Saw them on the Black album tour and they were decent but no where near as good as an awesome Slayer or blistering Megadeth (supported by Pantera!) all 3 shows within a couple of months of each other. Saying that, saw the Metallica fan show at the O2 for £5 and they were brilliant.

Did you see them on their last mini tour?

Amazing!

The one in 2011? Regretably not! We went to see them twice whilst my other half was pregnant at the end of 2010, but for obvious reasons didn't go to the 2011 shows! And I missed out on the O2 show as I was babysitting so she could go!

Most recently we both saw James Dean Bradfield do a solo acoustic set for the reissue of Generation Terrorists at Rough Trade East. Amazing stuff... and he played Condemned to Rock and Roll...

Wow nice one catching an acoustic set, sweet.
I love the story of James Dean Bradfield going to a vocal coach, as he was having a few problems with his voice. The coach (after hearing JDB's style of delivery) asked 'holy **** dude, how long have you been singing like this?' James said 'oh, about 30 years'
'There's no helping you then mate! Bye.' the coach replied.

Great story, thanks for that.

He's a superb front man and amazing guitarist.

Yeah that is a great story. He is also very underrated as a guitarist in my opinion!

Another big manics fan here, seen em a fair few times, though sadly not for a good few years now. Absolutely love james' vocals, they define the manics sound. Did any of you guys ever get to see them play with Richie? Best gig was the forum Kentish town off the back of everything must go. Holy bible their best album for me, Richie was an incredible writer and the whole military style was amazing :)

Otherwise seen pearl Jam many times and gomez plus numerous Glastonbury festivals. They were the days, the hazy days, definitely need to get back to Glastonbury before it ceases to be, which won't be long, such an amazing vibe.
