hi guys, does anyone know how to get round this eBay scam? I've agreed a deal on a couple of figures from a seller in the US and also a shipping price. However as soon as he accepted my offer the GSP cut in and now wants to add $50 to the total. I've emailed the seller and asked him to opt out of the scheme, which he says he has but he cannot send me a revised invoice! Am I sunk or is there a way round it? apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, cheers, Ant

Doesn't look like you can do it via the ebay app though. Changed region to US, but still tries to rape you on import charges.

They can send you a revised invoice which allows them to alter the shipping method.

On a plus note I finally figured out how the hell to opt out of the dam thing - yeay :p

Really? Please tell.

Either really, so your saying if I buy something and the seller is willing to opt out he/she can and still sell through ebay and paypal?

If I understand correctly, if not ask if they will do revision of the listing & alter the postage which will defo work.

How to get out of the shitting program -

To opt out of the Global Shipping Programme at an account level:
Go to My eBay > Account > Site Preferences.
Click the Show link to the right of the Postage Preferences section.
Click the Edit link to the right of Offer the Global Shipping Programme.
Click Opt Out.
Review the information. If you still wish to opt out, click Continue to opt out.
To remove a single active listing from the Global Shipping Programme:
Go to My eBay > Activity > Sell > Active.
Select the listing you'd like to change.
In the Edit drop-down menu, select Edit selected.
In the Add postage details section, click the Edit selected policy link.
In the International postage section of the Edit postage policy dialogue box, clear the Send it to the UK Shipping Centre, and the rest will be taken care of for you box.
Save and confirm your changes.
To remove all active listings from the Global Shipping Programme:
Go to My eBay > Activity > Sell > Active.
In the Edit drop-down menu, select Edit all listings.
In Edit listings, select all of your listings by checking the box at the top of the left column.
In the Edit drop-down menu, select Postage policy.
In the Edit business policies dialogue box, select Change to from the Postage policy drop-down menu, and then click the edit link next to the postage policy name.
In the International postage area of the Edit postage policy dialogue box, clear the Send it to the UK Shipping Centre, and the rest will be taken care of for you box.
Save, confirm, and submit your changes.

its a shithouse rip off, a lot of sellers opt out, they are auto enrolled to give ebay profit.

one benefit to the seller is ebay post the item so take responsibility for loss, hence why sellers like using it, but the buyer gets screwed big time.

Yeah but if stuff gets returned is not covered by any GSP insurance & the seller gets screwed - been there :|

GSP destroyed my parcel that i sent to a buyer.. hidden somewhere in the T&Cs are weight and dimension limits.. i sent a fairly large box but well within the limits to the GSP center by hermes, it stayed there for a week and then on the GSP tracking it said 'Error: Oversized parcel', contacted Ebay and they said they have no contact with the shipping company and suggested the buyer do an item no received.

The following day, I received an email from GSP (appearing as Ebay) to say the parcel would not get shipped to USA as was too large (it wasn't) and that the buyer would be refunded in full with the money not coming out of my paypal.. No option to get the item returned, as it was going to get liquidated..

No doubt they calculated it would be cheaper to refund the buyer than to ship it to the USA.

I am currently waiting for 2 items through the GSP so will post an update as to how it goes, good bad or indifferent, the only thing that brought a slight smile to my face was the fact that both passed through Cincinnati on route, almost visiting home one last time.
