Hi all,

we were already discussing a little bit about this on the LA thread recently, but said I'd create a thread for this, so here it is.

First the pics of the box in my collection:

Then the text from the book 'From Meccano to Trilogo':
"PDT-8 is really interesting: it is made from a Canadian Kenner box with a Canadian-Art French ROTJ logo on the front and the Kenner logo as been preserved. A white Meccano area is printed at the bottom of the box. This one is particularly difficult to find."

Now the question: How rare is it really? I bought this 'by accident', actually I thought I was buying an US box and was surprised to find the above text in the said book. Was it Joe or Emiel who posted another pic of his? (Emiel if I remember correctly.) So there are at least 2 owned by members of this board already. Any more?

Any more background information of Meccano specialists?

Im not big on boxed items especially Dennis but it is certainly not an example I have seen many of mate. Ive definitely not owned one. Its certainly quite a cool box though. Sounds like you got it for a keen price too if it was by accident. Perhaps Emiel / Joe might be able to shed a little more light on this. :|

I indeed have one exactly like this.

I also remembered I sold one of these to Uli (Idefix13) and e-mailed him to ask about the Meccano are. He e-mailed me back to say he now has two. He checked them and both have the same white area with the Meccano text. So I'm unsure whether it's rare at all.

Never seen one mate. First One I've seen. PDT-8 is an odd one for mini rigs. There seems to be alot less of these boxed than the other mini rigs.
