What would you do in this situation.

I have an item that I'm watching on ebay (I'm clearly up against a single bidder and if it is you I'm gonna kick your ass!) :D
It is not an item which comes up very often and is at a good price. However, as it is the daughter's 18th tomorrow I've spent up.
If I win this the only way I can fund it is from a quick sale.
I have 3 options:

a) Let it go. Another will appear sometime. Although I've only seen 3 FS in the last 5 years
b) Sell a higher value item like a vcj to raise funds quickly
c) Sell a few lower value items to the value of the piece, which may take a little longer and annoy the buyer.

By tomorrow I will need to make a decision or have lost out on the piece so it won't matter.

cheers
Richard

Let it go Rich, I want it

Seriously, depending on how much it means to you, I would contemplate selling a higher value item to get it, if whatever you are selling is relatively easy to find again.

First of all congratulations on looking so youthful, I'd never have thought you have an 18 year old.

You must buy it, if it means that much to you you'll regret it and it may sour your mood for your daughters big day.

Go for B or C.

However, it's likely that there are other buyers out there waiting and watching. You may end up selling something you like and being outbid.

Sell the VCJ. Prices on these seem crazy to me at the moment. If you have the option to get something that has only popped up 3 times in five years in exchange for an item that is currently commanding a highly inflated value (IMO) and pops up on a near weekly basis then it would be an easy decision for me.

firstly....

d) put your poker face on, setup your max bid in your ebay sniper and don't show your hand to soon!!

then...

b) sell that VCJ, they aren't rare but fetch silly money at the moment.

If you'd be happier owning the item you're after than owning a VCJ then let the Jawa go. You should be able to get another graded 85 for around 500 (UKG), or maybe less if you're happy to wait until they drop in value (pretty shire that will happen at some point). If it's a loose one you have then those are around 350-400 and do appear often.

If it was me I'd have to make sure I'd be happier owning the new item over the VCJ. I did have 2 AFA 85 VCJ's that I let go as I didn't think I'd miss them but then ended up buying an opened AFA 85, sold that and then bought 2 85 UKG ones

D). Take back the items you've bought for your daughter and buy her a really nice card. Tell her its 21 where she will get her 'really impressive present'. This gives you two years to save for something really impressive..

That's the annoying thing. She said she wants nothing for her birthday. I couldn't get her nothing. Could I?

Perfect time to introduce her to her new hobby! With her nice new expensive Star Wars item

Personally I'd sell the jawa or max out a credit card.

Eighteen year old daughter you say................

I'm relieved that she's 5 years too old

I'll make an exception, just cos it's her b'day!

I may well be over in Consett next week!

Once the auction is finished either way of result, would like to know what the item was to see whether it was worth what you are contemplating :)

Rich, if you don't have the spare funds, and the item outweighs your VCJ, then go for it flog the vcj, If not, sit back it will come again, and enjoy celebrating your daughters 18 th, plenty of time for Star Wars, she's only eighteen once :D

Bollocks I didn't win. And it was a damn error on my part. Although admittedly I don't know the other guys max bid.

It was a 12" Ledy Tusken Raider with repro box.

Never mind still looking
