have 3 rd-d2 solid tops at the moment.
outside one's hong kong plus marble(damm kids)
middle one made in hong kong
all three are made of different plastic's.
centre one looks as if it's been painted but doing a light scratch with knife it's how the plastic is.

plus this minty mint 3 legged one

great stuff

that middle one looks like the "hard torso" plastic of a PBP stormie or similar

thanks guys
tried pin up side it's a right tight twat.
notice the mark on marble ,tried using a drill so i could crack it ,no joy

thats why i said i'd scratched it with a knife ,definatly not painted, tipexed in any way.

I only know the sensorscope R2 with this kind of plastic. Never seen that before on a solid dome...maybe someone swapped the dome?

I've tried swapping the domes before, and found that one type wouldn't fit the other kind of body

Recently purchased this nice odd R2. One on the left is what looks like a hard torso R2D2 Sensor scope and on right same coo normal soft plastic look.

There is no strong smell unlike the hard torso Snowtrooper. After checking my R2D2 sensor moc it appears that it is also a hard torso on a ROTJ Kenner 65 back. Although oddly enough the coos are flipped as though one R2 torso is on backwards. Is there anything to determine a front and back during the construction process?

You learn something new everyday in this hobby. :)

What's worse is finding out that your heading down the line of collecting variants without knowing it. :?

I also have hard torso R2-D2 sensorscope, I do not know where I have it from but I have had it for many years.
I am not sure what it is, but to me it looks like it is PBP stormie white. So I think there is a good chance it is a PBP :?

How about supergluing a flat head screw onto the marble then pulling out with a pair of pliers...

Now that is a very clever idea! :)
