Hi all,

Quick question here that I was hoping someone could answer.
I need to cancel an ebay win that someone listed incorrectly and I wondered if there's a way the seller can issue my refund easily without me opening a case? I thought this was fairly straightforward by just doing it from paypal off of my order but the seller isn't sure.

Any info is much appreciated and the seller seems to be totally on the level so I don't think I need to get ebay involved if I can help it.

Thanks in advance - Ian

Hi
The seller can cancel the order. They can then refund the money to you. Ebay will then send you an email and once you have received the money you confirm. The seller will then receive a credit note to cover the ebay fees.

Thanks for that, I thought it was fairly easy but need to let them know to make it as straight forward as possible.
Hopefully it won't end up being one of those drawn out things.

Ian

Yes, the seller can send you a cancellation request in his resolution centre. If it's an item that has been paid for, the refund is sent at the same time.

Yea what they said above. Easy process and very quick. I had to do it with a couple of auction a person won in Italy. Apparently their son had got onto their ebay account and won loads of auction. Sorted within 5 minutes.

I get 4 or 5 "my son bid..." Every month. Always utter bullsgit and always gets banned. Funny, it never "my daughter..." Ever.

All sorted now so thanks again to everyone. :D

My next problem is that I have to send an item back as it's not as described. I've contacted the seller about this who has said that's fine to do but just wondered if I'm safe to send it back with tracking numbers or if I need to contact ebay first about doing this? I'm guessing I'm fairly covered as ebay can read the messages between us but thought I should double check with you ebay experts first.

Oh and this is hopefully the last thing so don't think I'm going to keep asking questions every day

To return something not as described you must do it by open a request to return. The UK law now states that if an item is faulty or not as described then the seller must pay the return postage (something i said needed to be done a few years back  ).

I've sent a returned item message through ebay to the seller although it states that I just have to wait for the seller to contact me about it or if not ebay steps in. The thing is that the seller has already agreed to take the item back and I just did this process to cover myself a bit.

Hopefully everything should be fine now as long as I send the item tracked and the seller will refund me.

Thanks for the info, it's been of great help :D

Don;t do anything until he responds to the official request within the request. If he has not accepted the return you need to ask him to accept the return.
