Lads,

ive currently only got the silver special edition box set which was released in 2004.However im after the set which contains both the SE and the Original theatrical versions which most of us saw back in the day.I saw this set on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Star-Wars-Original-Trilogy-DVD/dp/B001FVKUA8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1274906300&sr=8-1

but a reviewer says that the originals look poor and dont even come in widescreen format-is this true?If anyone can point me in the direction of a good OT theatrical set of DVDs it would be much appreciated.Ive had enough of the SE now :D

I have these versions too as the digitally restored and remastered versions ****ing suck.
They are wide-screen, tho because they are completely unedited or mastered, some of the scene's in space reveal a few suspect FX issues. Behind the Tie Fighters you can see a little, faint, square where they've been pasted into the scene. It's quite irritating.
Tho this is a shame and they really should have touched those bits up before they released these versions, the overall experience is 50 times better than watching the god-awful edited versions.
Mostly everything else looks great plus there are no extra ships crowding out every shot, no cartoon characters in the background, no badly animated Jabba walking around, no "little shop of horrors" beak in the Sarlacc, Bobba Fett has his own voice and not his sons (that made sense George!) and all the other things that ruined Star Wars have been removed. So, yeah, get em!!

was actually thinking of getting these also, but wasnt aware of the reviews

well done PGowdy, looks like I'll have to get them now  :D
