Got a bit of a strange issue.

I have recently recieved a new item from Mexico which was limelighted the other day on this board. It was delivered by one of the well known international couriers and i signed for it and off they went.

I have come home from work today to find that the same company have pushed through my letterbox a scrappy delivery note type thing with a hnd written message asking for the funds that are highlighted.

The box itself did have a sticker on it when it arrived that stated "cleared by customs". In my humble opinion it is the duty of the delivery company to collect any customs charges owed prior to collection. I think they have ****ed up and are now trying to get me to pay. Has anyone here had this happen and any advice on what to do.

My first thought is to basically ignore it and see what happens.

Have you still got the box Steve? If so keep that safe and wait and see what happens mate, to be honest they can stick a piece of **** through your door like that but if your box says its cleared and you had it delivered they surely can't charge you customs AFTER!?

I have never been hit by customs here or in the UK so not in a position to say but to be honest, I wouldn't pay unless I was asked to whilst it was being delivered or when I picked it up.

Hi Steve.

FedEX work this way. If I were you I would pay it just incase you end up having any items shipped through the same company in the future. Imagine an Uzay Chewie coming through the post and it being lost or stolen or used like a football. Id pay it bud.

Grant.

Not a chance mate, dont pay it, they cant stick a note through your letterbox asking for money? thats a joke. what can they do...ask for the parcel back lol.

LOL yeah stick a couple of beaters in a star case and tell them thats what it was ! LOL

I've been stung a few times but I've always had to pay before
getting the item.

I dn't think they've got a leg to stand on mate....don't pay it

Thanks for the comments and the majority are after my own thoughts. But i do like the idea of sticking something else in there and telling them to take it back.

And as i am also a Scotsman (born in Dunfermline with Scottish Mother) then i will tell them to do this if they kick off.

Cheers guys,

Steve

Thats the scots man comming out of you steve

I know. It is always an interesting day in my family during the Calcutta Cup in the 6 nations. My mum is true Scot and my Day a true Englishman. My sister was born in Plymouth and as mentioned i was born in Dunfermline. My Dad is ex-Navy which is why we moved around a bit.

I truly support the boys from North of the Border and get quite passionate about the whole thing (as well as drunk).

Anyway, my mind is made up. I am going to wait to see if they contact me again and if the do i will kick off and tell them to come and pick up the parcel again (i am sure i have some cheapy stuff i can stick in there).

Steve

Don't pay a thing mate. It's their tough **** if they've screwed up. I've been stung once by the post office and they request money before they will release the parcel as do all couriers.
