Hi all,

I haven't posted in here in a while, but I thought I would let y'all know about the Star Wars memorabilia coming up at Profiles in History.

Once again, I have only covered the top two lots in my article, but there is plenty on offer if you have the quids.

Can anyone tell me roughyl how many Luke Skywalker lightsabers there were made? Its so hard to find out when the market is saturated with replicas.

Anyway, enjoy and comment always welcome (within reason).

Cheers,

Joe

Some results there. The X-wing miniature did very well, the lightsaber...not so great. One thing I forgot to mention was the imperial guards helmet, which sold for way more than the lightsaber.

Cheers.

Thanks for the link, that is some cool items. I did not know they sold such items

Hi, yea I would strongly suggest keeping an eye on Profiles in history if you are after the top-end Star Wars stuff. Its nice to see even if you can't afford it (best not to think who buys it though!). I believe I've posted some stuff on here before from big auctions (original Chewbacca head) so have a dig anround and see if you can find it.

Thanks for the feedback!

I will keep an eye on it :D

Who can afford to buy such things ?

Millionaires generally. A lot of them do so for investment purposes, diversifying their portfolio so that if the stocks go bad (which they have been for a while), they have some of value that isn't really affected by their markets.

I think its a great idea to invest in something that you can see and love rather than a slip of paper that says you own part of a company, but is a shame that many real collectors will never get the chance to see these items as they are absorbed by one private collection and then another.

Obscene amounts of money changing hands there. I love the props but can't get my head around paying 30 - 50,000 USD for something like that lightsaber. Many of the props are very poor quality and don't age well. They weren't designed to last and would have no doubt been chucked around during production. The Chewie head on the other hand, that's just amazing.

I respect prop collector Jason Joiner who has a hand in the Elstree Empire Day. You can go and view some of his collection there (for a fee). On the other hand there must be so many bits and pieces floating around, locked up where we'll never see. It's a huge shame and makes me think what's the point in paying all that to just shut it away. I guess it's just a different scale to many of our own collections. As long as someone's enjoying the items then that's ok. 8)
