I've scooted right the way through.. the SW stuff is amazing, but I'm oddly more floored by the volume of amazing iconic items going under the hammer... Tom Hanks clothes from Forrest Gump, the outfits worn by Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman in Shawshank, Prince's hat from Purple Rain, Michael J Fox's self lacing Nikes from BTTF 2, Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman mask... DiCaprio's Titanic outfit as Jack.... The Karate Kid's bandana FFS.. This auction is mental!

Unbelievable array of iconic objects that I've watched on screen from many of my fave movies...

The sword of Conan... the armour of King Arthur in Excalibur... the Alien queens head... Terminator shotgun... it just goes on and on.

As a collector it really makes me feel like I'm Accrington Stanley and this is Barcelona. So far out of my league!

I was a bit surprised at first to see the Tauntaun didn't sell but then read that parts of it were reproduction so think that the starting bid of $60K was to high really.

Seeing those first shots on Hoth of this creature running in the snow were what initially put me onto my career path of animation and meeting the animator, Phil Tippett, at his studio which was down the road from where I once lived in Berkeley was one of the big highlights of my lifetime. I really would have loved this item but there's no way on earth I'm ever going to be able to afford something like this so I guess I'll just have to make do with looking at the pictures of it.

There are some other great animation characters up for sale later today so it will be interesting to see what they go for. I may well have even animated the Coraline figure with cat at one point as well as it's from the sequence I worked on. For now though I'll just enjoy having my Neca $10 doll of her.

The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man foot made me laugh, I know it's an iconic character from an amazing movie but that really was in some rough shape. Hopefully the owner isn't trying to put a whole suit together as it might take both a lot of time and money.

That Goonies cutlass went for a good amount though, not surprised by that one.

I knew it would be well out of my price range for what I was interested in so didn't have a punt. That said though there were some items that went for a more reasonable amount but as with collecting anything, it's if it's an area that interests you.

I have a few catalogs from past auctions and they are really well printed with large pictures and make for great reference.

Looking on their site I thought they still had back issues but it looks like they don't go back very far. I hope the guy that bought the R2D2 doesn't collect Palitoy MOC!

If there are Star Wars collectors out there paying 2.3 million for R2D2 and 375,000 for lightsabers then you can see why Action Figure prices are rising as well, surely these high profile sales will bring more collectors, money and demand into the market.

This is probably a stupid question but how do you know the props are real, do they come with a COA from Lucas Films or something?
