i reckon luke jedi was the most mast produced figure of the vintage era . i see so many loose ones everywhere and it has so many variants also too. what do you guys think?

I'd guess it was Vader as it came out on SW ESB and ROTJ and was integral to any kids collection. That would be my guess anyhow.

Could well be and given that he was the hero it would make sense. As for the variants tell me about it, keeps my focus going......and going..... and going :)

But could the numbers be higher than a popular SW released figure which would have also been released for ESB and ROTJ? Then again by the time ROTJ is released the production numbers would have been tenfold from the SW numbers.

Would be interesting to see manufacturing numbers for all figures release.

What about the stormtrooper? That's one figure that most people had more than one of.

I'd think any of the 1st 12 would have had a higher production run, but I do think he was a high seller during the Jedi era. There were 3 factories pumping out LJ figures and like has been said there's all kinds of variants in not only the accessories, but also how he was packaged.

I was thinking Klaatu, we had a lot of them in all the danish stores I bought star wars in as a kid, he also always show up in all childhood collections

Here some write about that there could be more than 600 variants of that figure

Got to be Vader or possibly Chewie as there was only one (barring variants) style of figure produced, no hoth, cloud city, Endor fatigue or Jedi variants. Everyone had Vader when they were a kid 8)

I thought Klaatu, Lando skiff etc as they are everywhere until a RS thread which pointed out that some of the first 12 have a 4 or 5 year head start on these figs. Could be the Klaatus etc are everywhere because all the stormies, Vaders etc were wrecked by children as they would have been played with a lot more than these ancillary characters.

Would be interesting to find out via figures - if there are any. I remember seeing Klaatu everywhere......
But I would probably go Vader

"You can dig a hole anywhere in America and you'll find a Chewbacca in it". Love that :D

But I'd actually say Stormtrooper. In the Toy Shop we had shedloads of all of the ROTJ releases, masses of them. Funnily enough from what others have said, Klaatu we never, ever had.

actually yeah ive changed my mind from luke jedi! vader i reckon was the most owned figure and probably the most produced as he was the most iconic and like you said had a 5 year head start on the 1983-85 line. shame we cant find out how many units of each kenner figure were made

I would have said Klaatu but I think this is influenced by him being a crappy figure and more likely to survive intact giving a false impression of how many were made.

Vader is a good option, the most common Vintage Star Wars figure that often turn up on eBay as the 'rarest' but missing his DT Lightsabre
