After reading the Steve Denny interview that Grant posted I thought it would be interesting to work out how much the current prices reflect the market and how much is just down to inflation.

I took some items from the 1st and 2nd issues of Steve's mailer catalogue and worked out the current price based on inflation. Then compared to some recent Ebay sales. Some of the results might not be as bad as you'd think...

Speeder Bike MIB $8 (1988 price), $16 (adjusted for inflation), $27 (Ebay sale)
Rebel Transport MIB $47 (1988 price), $95 (adjusted for inflation), $100 (Ebay sale)
ATST MIB $40 (1988 price), $80 (adjusted for inflation), $81 (Ebay sale)
Nikto MOC $6 (1988 price), $12 (adjusted for inflation), $26 (Ebay sale although I found 1 that sold for $9)
B Wing Pilot MOC $6 (1988 price), $12(adjusted for inflation), $25 (Ebay sale)
Biker Scout MOC $6 (1988 price), $12(adjusted for inflation), $81 (Ebay sale) - 675% increase!

Very Interesting.

Are you sure about that biker scout price? $81 Sounds like a bit of an anomaly to me. They normally sell for around the £10 mark loose.

Oops, should have noted the figures were MOC. Updated now.

I just thought it might be nice to know that not everything vintage is going through the roof.

Whats up with the Rebel Transporter? I love that ship. Its a toy, its a figure carrying case, its got clicky guns. Nobody wants one! Never understand that.

Rebel transporters an excellent ship but Its massive, Its the same with all the large ships they are brilliant but they take up way too much room!

Looks as though MOCs have increased the most. Funny how the cheaper items are worth the most. Agreed re: stuff like the Rebel Transport. Bloody brilliant toy :)

The weirdest things are items that never had any sale value at all, things like the store displays. Who would have thought back then, eh...
