So I'm in the process of looking for modern Bossk Pre-prod stuff as to my knowledge all the vintage is (a) locked up in collections and (b) I can't afford it. During the hunt so far I have found a number of other first shots/proofs/cromalins etc for SW and other toy lines so wondered how the stuff actually comes to market?

Do staff just take bits home and then pass them on? Were people raiding Kenners bins and are people raiding Hasbros bins at night? Any info/hearsay/rumours/first hand experience would be great.

thanks

Carl

With the modern protos, I believe the factory workers in the far east were actively producing colourful first shots specifically to take home and sell on the collectors market. There were loads and loads of these at one point. Probably around 10 years ago I bought 30 or 40 for $15 - $20 each. Didn't sell them for much more, I didn't think they would ever take off

Vintage wise, we have a few pioneers or dumpster divers to thank for a lot of the stuff! Unfortunately a lot of the stuff is firmly locked up and / or the price of a deposit on a second home in Surrey.

There some great RS threads about pre pro finds.

theres a great interview on the podcasts too about finds. I think it was chris fawcett or ross barr that was interviewed.
