Premier League 2019/2020 Thread

I agree on Utd, but 2 of the last 4 managers have been woefully bad appointments. Moyesy and OGS. For those alone heads should roll in the B.O.D's. Jose was yesterday's man when Utd appointed him and he never looked like recapturing the glory days of his past. He may have sorted the club out in a few years, but his track record is that of a cheque book manager, so I doubt it. LVG was a strange one. On paper it looked good, the footy was dull as but he was at least making the CL. In hindsight maybe he should have been given more time.

**** knows who they get when OGS gets sacked. They don't need a 'big name' manager so much as someone who will build/rebuild a team. But will the BOD accept appointing someone who doesn't have that star pedigree. Will the fans accept it? Just listening to any phone in or reading any comments section on football website, makes you realise just how many deluded/entitled Utd fans there are. Granted they may be the vocal idiot minority, but there are a lot more of them than there should be. Utd in 2019 are not the same as the Utd Fergy left. Even that Utd had a lot of cracks that Fergy had papered over or that hadn't quite been exposed yet. This Utd need a total rebuild, they aren't the super attractive proposition some of the deluded idiots seem to think they are.

Still, Rochdale tomorrow night. Utd have a chance there!

This makes no sense?!

And I have to disagree. If any part of the attackers body, any part, is nearer the goal line than the last defender when the pass is kicked it is offside. A ref can't always see that, a linesman should but If VAR can't see it then it is **** and doesn't work.

It makes sense in the draft and as soon as I post it makes no sense!!!! To think off side never use to exist! No one can actually think that the Spurs goal should be ruled out its nonsense IMO.

Spurs knocked out of the EFL Cup by the mighty Colchester! At least the league title is still in your sights so no need to worry about those little cups eh Poch

You played a weakened team but still brought on some big hitters. Top flight forwards shouldn't be missing penalties but realistically you should've been through without playing the shoot out lottery.

A truly feeble performance by Spurs tonight. When it was nil-nil at halftime, that's when Poch should have brought on Son (actually he should have payed him from the start, but a whole half is better than 25 minutes). Wanyama and Dier were both ****. Troy 'who?' Parrot useless. Sanchez sloppy as hell. The number of unforced errors simply embarrassing. We were completely toothless up front and the same old side-to-side bollocks Poch insists on always playing and which never ****ing works didn't ****ing work! Well done Colchester, but Spurs only have themselves to blame.

Hockey scrapped the offside rule about 10-15 years ago. Everyone expected it to led to long aimless balls whacked down the pitch but it hasn't. sure you get a few, but then the same is true in footy (hello fat sam you tosser, I'm talking about you). I genuinely wonder what would happen if they scrapped off sides in football. It would be interesting to see a game with no off sides just to see how the teams coped.

Woeful result, but it's the worthless cup.

We're away to Liverpool in the next round so we should be able to concentrate on the league after that

Pool Arsenal, Chelsea Utd and City get a nice cushy home tie against Saints. Is it just me or do City seem to get a LOT of very cushy draws in domestic cups. Normally at home too.

Definetly, seems like it recently. They have won 5 out of the last 6 domestic major trophies.

And I know you don't count the league cup as a major trophie!

To sum up Utd Arsenal at HT.....Two shite sides, playing shite.
Yep. ****ing torturous to watch.

I know we have an appalling record at OT but if we are ever to show progression with this squad then we need to start winning these games. Without Aubameyang we would be screwed.

I am disappointed with Emery's selection though, bugger all creativity in midfield and still a strange reluctance to let loose. Our best attributes are clearly in attack so why not go at them? They had a makeshift defence and apart from possibly under Moyes this is the weakest Utd side for a while.

Second half was marginally better. But that's like saying being kicked in one bollock is better than being kicked in both bollocks.

Those two sides aren't even a pale imitation of their former selves. It's embarrassing how far they have both fallen.

I was talking to a few mates and said I couldn't make a decent CL standard side (I mean quarter finals, not qualification) out of a combination of the players available to both clubs. No one disagreed. This is Man Utd and Arsenal, the two sides who have dominated English footy for 20 years, and they can't even scrape a solid 11 between them.

Ohh and as for the linesman who flagged Abumayang offside. WTF where you looking at? HOW did you miss Harry Maguire being four yards behind the striker given he was stood 5 yards in front of your ****ing face?! I suspect someone is off to the Championship this weekend.

Anyone hear the rumour about spuds? Apparently Vertongen was caught knobbing Erikson's wife and all hell broke lose, understandably. I assume it's BS but it would explain a few things

Yes I've seen a few people mention it, no idea if it's true or not but you're right that could explain a few things!

I heard something about the Spurs dressing room, didn't know it was that bad though.

As for Man Utd and Arsenal, both clubs need time. It would be pretty boring if the same two sides won the league all the time. I just hope Man City :? and Liverpool aren't still the only two likely winners in 3 or 4 years.

As a Man Utd fan you can't expect them to keep winning like they did in the 00's and 90's. I consider myself spoilt really, growing up and seeing them win so much. Would be nice to finish in the top 6 though. :?

Last night's CL game was a weird one. Yes Spurs were bad, Aurier has somehow managed to be worse than both Tripper and Walker in right back which I thought was impossible (Walker has masked his incopmetence at defending by playing for a team so good that that never have to defend.) And Poch yet again fails to realise that when you're losing badly, replacing midfielders or defenders with more attacking players does not solve the problem, it just makes it worse (he should have kept Winks on.)

BUT have you ever seen a game like it where EVERY time Bayern touched the ball it ended up in the back of the net? It was ludicrous. No matter where they shot from, in it went. It was like the goal was twice the normal size. Can't even really blame Lloris, he was nowhere near any of the 7 goals. I really don't think 2-7 was a fair reflection of the game.

I had the second half of the Spurs game on the radio and it did seem a bit like that. At 1- 4 I turned it off and went back to it at 2 - 4 and Bayern scored 3 goals in about 5 minutes! That's the CL for you though, the top teams are ruthless.
