Hi guys,

Need a bit of help, I am gonna start a character focus on the PD starting with the hardest, pre production. Here's what I know exists so far:

Photo-art

Cromalin

Star Wars 20 back Boba Fett Offer

Empire Strikes Back 21-Back Power Droid Secret Star Wars Action Figure Proof Card

Empire Strikes Back 31-Back Power Droid Proof Card

Empire Strikes Back 41-Back (Survival Kit Offer) Power Droid Proof Card

Empire Strikes Back 45-Back (Display Arena Offer) Power Droid Proof Card

Return of the Jedi Proof Cards (Not sure which exist)

POTF Proof Card

Can anyone add any more or some specifics, I know how good you lot are with searching and trawling the internet and gathering information. Plus there are so many knowledgeable collectors who can probably point me in the right direction too?!

Cheers in advance,

Bram
:D

Great choice buddy, love that boxy little bastard :)

I'll see if I can find any trade bait fot you!

Hey Bram,

There are two guys that have quite a lot of PD pre prod between them, one has the photo art and just about all the proof cards that exist (1 SW proof, 5 ESB, 1 Revenge, 1 Return and a POTF) so some of the harder to find pieces are pretty locked up I would imagine, however a lot of proof cards do exist in multiples so you may have some luck tracking down enough proof cards to start a run/focus.

All the best and I will keep my eye out for things for you.

Thanks guys, I think its the same with pretty much any figure... All the good stuff seems to be locked up.

I'm hoping that in time I will find the key, but in the mean time I know I can probably get one of each apart from maybe the POTF proof.

ALL help is very much appreciated. I think I may only be able to pick up one or two pieces a year but given my current plans for the future that now works for me.

A Joe vs 8D8 plan is in order, softly softly...

Bram - great choice for a focus but a bloody tough one as Joe pointed out. Steve (The Dark Artist) recently picked up a proto moulded PD for his 1st 21 proto run. Check out his limelight on RS or TIG.
Give it a few years networking, pockets as deep as the Mariana Trench and the luck of a lottery winner and you'll have an awesome run. As I'm sure that you are well aware of the proto market, especially figural, has gone nuts over the last year - 18 months.

Good luck and I look forward to watching your progress - hopefully it will develop as quickly as your Revenge proof run!

Regards,
Christian

Ouch! Maybe I should've chosen Klaatu??

or maybe just the proofs then...

Bram given your tenacity and resourcefulness on the revenge proof run, I'm sure you will succeed, all the best with it bud, look forward to seeing your progress

Your revenge proof run, and the speed you acquired it was something I watched avidly and much Kudos to you for that achievement 8)

All the best bud :D

Naaaa mate - you hit the nail on it's head earlier when you said all focus character runs these days have tough pieces to acquire. IMHO choose the figure you like the best then you'll appreciate any piece you do pick up all the more. PD is one of my favourite characters as well but I just can't seem to settle on one particular character to focus on - personally I don't see the need to do so whereas many others do. Each to their own I suppose.
You never know I may sell my spray operations error example:

Not pre-prod but a sweet piece (IMHO!)

Stick to your guns mate - you'll be pleased if you do.

Christian

I will, like you say these days its so difficult as a lit is locked up.

Given my cirumstances and plans for the next year, picking up just one or two pieces a year will be fine for me. I can always move into production if it goes quiet for a while.

Couldn't see the pic though buddy.

As Christian said, it really is hard lately to really build up a great pre prod focus regardless of the character you choose, almost every single figure is "claimed" so to speak.

Prices are pretty awful of late too (when you are buying) and a lot of people who do own the goodies hardly entertain selling unless you cross their paths with gold bars or have some serious trade bait.

There are also people (usually your competition!) that will pay any price for rarities and while I don't begrudge anyone doing that if they have the money, it unfortunately has a knock on effect.. it raises the prices for anything pre prod for just about everyone. After all why would a seller take $300 for a proof card from me or you when he can sell it to Mr money bags for double or triple?

Don't give up hope though, the more you network and the more time you invest the more good fortune you have. There are some amazing people out there who would rather see a genuine collector add to their run than take them to the cleaners when they sell you something.

Good luck!

Thanks Joe and Christian... Words of wisdom on both counts.

I think once I have a few pieces then maybe a limelight to show I am serious will get people more willing to add to the focus. I'm definitely long hauling on this. Maybe in ten years I might be able to rival your 8D8 focus Joe?!

I need to research a bit but I think your both right that I have to be realistic as a lot of items simply won't be available... In the meantime I will continue to do the lottery and build slowly!

Thanks again and if you hear anything, let me know.
