Pototypes and Pre Production Items

Hi guys

Just a little question.

Where is the best place to go for pre production and prototype bits?? Only wandered as wouldnt mind trying to find a couple of bits for my Yoda focus. Seen some of you guys have added a few bits to collections recently (Jawas)

Is it a case of being in the know with the right people?? Ebay?? Offline auctions??

Any help would be appreciated.

I would say RS mate, rebelscum may be a safety net, ebay is riddled with repro and liars, if you go for modern protos then ebay is ok, but if you are wanting vintage stuff try a WTB on RS.

Yoda aint gonna be cheap though lol, even the proof cards are expensive.

Hi Chris,

Without a doubt the best way to acquire pre-production pieces is via networking. I would say that the majority of high end pieces (pre-production or not) change hands behind the scenes. Check out all of the classifieds to get a feel for who might have certain pieces and introduce yourself to them via PM or just place WTB posts. In the current climate, even though the market for pre-production pieces of all types is hot, there are plenty of sellers as well as many people who want to trade to freshen up their collections with new/different pieces.

You gotta know a guy who knew somebody that once lived next door to someone that bumped into this guy that heard someone threw some stuff out once.
Or you could just put up a WTB on the forums. RS would be a good start

Yoda is a popular character though so you might have to pull a few teeth to get something.

Thanks Christian and Josh, I thought networking would probably be the way forward. Think I might sign up to a few other forums, get my name around as a serious buyer for some bits and see where it takes me.

You also need to establish wether there are even any out there. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never seen a Yoda prototype figure. On the other hand I can think of some figures with plenty of prototypes in circulstion, such as Vader. They will be expensive but at least they definitely exist. I wouldn't set your heart on something that may not.

No I agree edd, haven't even started looking or enquiring yet so not getting my hopes up at all. My mind was wandering at work today and thought it would make a nice addition to my focus if there are any.

Vintage Yoda pre prod I would image is all locked up, very popular character.

You could probably track down a 65 back Return proof some day, would be probably the cheapest possible pre production item on the market but even then it'll be a few hundred squidoodles.

I have spoken to someone who has a large yoda focus & he said the pre production items are way out there in terms of cost & availability like the others here have said, I think he is thinking of selling his yoda focus off soon, so I can ask him for you if you wish, but I don't think he has any pre production stuff.
