Hi,

I was looking for advice on postage costs on loose figures.

I posted two last week. Standard sized figures. I took them to the post office and they weighed them and put the letter through a fake letter box and then charged me either 2:80 per figure(or was it 3:80 – I hadn't asked for signed for..) , this was for 2nd class.

I had only budgeted for 1 pound per figure as I see this is standard across the board but wondering should I just put a stamp on and post rather than bringing to the post office???

Any tips or advice welcome.

Most Ewoks, Dengar, Gam Guard, FX-7, R2, R5 and Emperor are small parcel size figures.
You can get away with up to four skinny figures for postage of a quid but a combination of slightly heavier ones can take this to about £1.30 if the weight goes over 100 grams

You need to make sure the package can go as 'Large letter' rather than 'Small parcel'. It sounds like yours had to go as small parcel, as that's £2.80. The dimensions for these are on the Royal Mail website.

I would never do that because if some jobsworth at the PO checks then your buyer will end up having to pay the excess and is likely to be seriously pissed off with you

I think it's just safer to charge between £2-£3 per figure (1st signed for) and take the small win on skinnys and the small loss on fattys. If you disclose postage clearly up front, then it's up to the buyer to decide whether they're happy with the cost.
