Postage insurance claim

Well, thirteen months later and the ****ers have paid out for my claim. Although they haven't admitted liability. Cos obviously it's hard to tell who was to blame when they were the only ones handling it.

After god knows how long of them dragging their heels, various legal processes taking months longer than they should I finally got it on the Small Claims Court schedule. Suddenly they get I touch offering me £600. Tempting as that was, I was claiming for the £1,000 I am out of pocket and I have accrued £200 in legal fees. So in essence they were asking me to accept being £600 out of pocket cos they are a shower of wankers. Needless to say I told them where to stick their offer and then the day we are due to get a Court date, they agree to pay my claim in full.

Lessons to take from this.

1) ParcelForce are cunts.
2) Parcelforce seem to think you buy insurance cos you want to give them more money.
3) If they decline your claim, take them to the Small Claims Court and refuse their initial low ball offer to settle.
4) NEVER EVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE PARCELFORCE!!!!

I've had a couple of items broken by Parcel2go, sent them an email with pictures and got a full refund that week. Parcelforce claim it wasn't their fault it got broken  See point four above!

That is a great result, nice one.

I can't recommend small claims enough! In fact, I recommend Money Collection On-Line (google it). It is Govt. run and takes all the hassle out of the process.

I used it against Parcel2Go. Sent a well packaged Lego set out. They literally bent it in half and then tried claiming their insurance "doesn't cover packaging". They were never able to point out where it said that in their terms and conditions. It was only worth £25 which made me even more mad. Registered the claim with the small claims court via MCOL for a £20 fee. It was found in my favour in a matter of weeks and P2G had to send me a cheque for my £25 + £20 costs plus cost of original postage fees.

Never take no for an answer from any courier. All this bollocks about "too delicate to send": show me that in the T&C's and I'll take the bullet, otherwise cough up.

Not really on postage , but I had a few issues with Aer Lingus , I followed the usual red tape bollocks and went round and round so googled who was the CEO of the company, got his email and fired off an email , 3 days later got my money back and a wee £100 voucher

Sorted

Chuffed you got your money back Edd, think it will give others the encouragment to do the same if it happens to them.

Congrats guys on the claims payouts!
Any suggestions on what company to use for high value items to be sent internationally with insurance?

Thanks
marc

I've used TNT a few times, for larger expensive items. I had to put the details in on their site, the comparison sites like parcel2go didn't seem to show them, but they were quite reasonable.
That only holds for large, and expensive items though, (graded and boxed) Y-wing size and bigger. For smaller ones like Mini Rigs etc you should be ok with any one bar parcelforce.

The Yoda sold for £1,400. When the buyer contacted me about the cracked bubble we agreed a refund of £1,000 and he was gonna keep the MOC.

So i was out the £1000 all this time. Hence my anger at Parcelforce claiming it wasn't their fault that they broke it, and why I was even more ****ed off that after 10 months of dragging their heals they tried to fob me off with an offer of effectively £400. Of course I'll happily bite the bullet a take a £600 hit on the chin cos you ****ed up, Parcelforce. I mean, it's not like it was well wrapped and I specifically took insurance out to cover exactly this eventuality. Besides you've been so helpful and professional through out, never once contradicting yourselves and trying to dodge your responsibilities. So, I'd be delighted to be left £600 out of pocket to help you.

Wankers.

NEVER USE PARCELFOCE.

What I thought, shocking.

If they'd come clean up front they would have saved themselves my £200 costs plus whatever costs they have incurred. But I guess they gamble that enough ppl will take it on the chin and walk away.
Even at that, bloody piss poor way to run a business. You **** up you make it up to the customer and then some. You don't leave them out of pocket and ****ed just to save yourself a few quid.
